I've known Beverly, and her goodness and humor, since I was in seventh grade in the 1970s, and have nothing but the fondest of memories of Bev and her family over these many years.

What an inspiration Bev was to always be in such good and upbeat spirits (for decades), even when her health issues first appeared and began to worsen. She fought it valiantly, and with good humor and upbeat determination, getting out and forcing herself to walk, with a smile on her face, and with her husband, Fred, at her side.

Later, when Bev's health declined and I no longer saw her walking the neighborhood, and began to miss that smile and the friendly exchanged words, I watched as all the Dursts, from far and wide, rallied around and were there for Bev, as she had been for each of them.

Bev's love for her family, and theirs for her, has been a constant, from the simpler times of the past to the more troubled times of today. Bev's left us now, and is finally at peace, but in so many ways, she'll always be with us in fond memories (sometimes that make us smile for no apparent reason), in her family, and in the way Bev and what made her unique live on in each of them.

It's been my great privilege to know the Dursts these many years, and to have been inspired by Beverly and her fine example; from the moment I met her, to today, when we'll say farewell to her at last. At the same time we'll be thankful, both because Bev's finally free of struggle, and also for all she gave us of herself that will endure in those of us whose lives she touched along the way.
