December 5, 1964 - July 6, 2016.
Carmen was taken from us July 6th in a tragic car accident. Carmen went to Colusa schools and graduated from Heald's Business College and Career Cosmetology School in Yuba City, CA. She was a motivational instructor at Yuba City Behavioral Health as well as the founder of their Annual Fashion Show. She motivated their consumers to participate as models in the show to help erase the stigma of mood disorders.
As an artist and published poet and writer, she motivated others to live life to its fullest. Carmen inspired those around her with her positive energy and, having been a two time breast cancer survivor, her enthusiasm for exercise. Carmelita had the gift of humor and often made others laugh with her sayings, jokes and observations. Her laugh was contagious; we will miss her and her magic.
She is preceded in death by her parents Carmen Sosa and Edilburgo Chavarria. She was a loving Tia (aunt) to Savannah, Moises, Gregorio, Xavier, Pilar, Nicole and Loren, and a loving grand aunt to Jet, Dash and Marlese. She leaves behind siblings Paula (Rene) Garcia, Iris (Javier) Chavarria, Stu Gluck, all of Oakland, Jaime Chavarria, of San Francisco, Juan Chavarria, of Paso Robles, and Guadalupe (Martha) Chavarria, of Windsor.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on July 23, 2016 at Crossroad Church, Yuba City, CA from 12:00-2:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yuba-Sutter Gleaners Food Bank, Inc.
