Clark Dodson Obituary

Clark Dodson
On Wednesday, January 9, 2013, Clark Dodson went home to be with the Lord. His family lost a great husband, father and Papa. Clark was born on May 1, 1939, in Oroville, California to Lester and Lucille Dodson, moving to Twain where he grew up. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1958, enlisting in the Army National Guard in 1959, where he served for eight years reaching the rank of sergeant. Clark settled down in Quincy, where he and his wife of 50 years, Helen, raised their two children, Teresa and Brian. Clark will be remembered by many people who knew him for his strong work ethic, love of the outdoors and great sense of humor. His reputation as being a skilled and hard working timber faller carried him through 40 years in the timber industry. Clark was an avid sportsman and was involved in competitive athletics throughout his life, beginning in high school. In his 20's he enjoyed go-cart racing, that was followed by competitive snowmobile racing where he ultimately won the Northern California/Nevada Snowmobile Championship for 1972 and 1973. His love of horses led him to buy land and build a home in Meadow Valley, and he spent several years riding with a roping group. He spent much of his time with family and friends and enjoying the outdoors where he hunted and fished.

Twenty years ago, Clark and Helen moved to Yuba City, where for the last sixteen years he enjoyed his new role in life, Papa to his beautiful granddaughter, Madison. He cherished his time with family and loved being a Grandpa. Retirement suited him well as he spend the last nine years doing the things he enjoyed most, golfing, fishing, camping with friends and spending time with his family.

Along with his family, Clark is survived by his sister, Shirley (Dick) Moydell, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, his brother Rusty (Liz) Dodson of Quincy, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Quincy, and he was laid to rest at Quincy Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Leukemia Society.
