Grandma Ouida, we all miss you so much. Thank you for so many beautiful moments, both in my childhood and recently. Thank you for watching me after school each day, for teaching me countless things. I carry you in my heart. Oh how much I wish for one last hug and the sound of your laugh.
We will meet again one day...

I lived across the street from Ouida in Gridley. She was very kind to my son. She would have him do chores around her house and let him talk and talk and talk. She had a very kind soul. I remember the day she had to put her beloved German Shepard down. All I could do was just keep hugging her until the tears stopped. She was a great person!

As a young man, Ouida and her three daughters graced a special period in my life. Their love and companionship warmed my world, and the glow still lives in my heart. Paula's poetry and Ouida's art were both inspirational to me, and helped me along the path of my own artistic development.
Sadly, life pulled us apart, and we lost touch for many years, until Pam found me recently on Facebook. It was with great joy that I was able to reconnect with the family, and to discover that the love lost for so many years was still alive, only waiting to be rekindled.
Ouida lived a full life, and I'm sure she touched many other lives as deeply as she did my own. I hope that this small offering of words will bring at least a token of consolation to her family, as we all recall, in love and gratitude, the gift she was in our lives.
