Well it's been about five weeks since we lost Rick....it's hard to believe that he's not here anymore-that we won't see him every day-won't hear him chuckle and crack silly jokes. God has him now and he's running and hiking and hanging out with family and friends. We miss you and love you brother-see you when it's my turn. I love you so much!

Rick & those who knew him......

I was fortunate in life to have coached Rick at Yuba College when he was a young man, knew of him as a high school runner, and was a friend of his in later life.

A genuine human being, kind, loyal, honest, hard-working, caring, etc. are just a few of the words describing Rick. He devoted much of his life in helping others, serving his community, and spreading good cheer and laughter. He will be surely missed by local and not so local folks who shared his passion for running. The local running events who raise funds for good purposes already know of his missing presence. There is a difference being a race director who cares about the athletes and one that "just draws a line and takes money". Rick understood the helping side of things. Never one to complain or say a bad word about anyone, Rick was loyal to his friends and causes. Rick knew what it meant to get the most out of life and regularly let his friends know it. It has been an honor to have coached him, to know of his service to our country and others, and to know him as a friend. To Cheryl and Heath, Rick left a wealth of friends, experiences, and a blueprint for a good life. In closing, I can say along with that great rock-n-roll band they have in heaven, is one heckuva running group! Rest in Peace.

I worked with Rick for a short time in the Athletic Dept. at Yuba College. He was the Track Coach. He loved his work with the students and he was a thoughtful co-worker. Always had a smile and always asked about me and mine. Later he dedicated time and generated money from the 5K races he put on towards scholarship funds for students with disabilities at Yuba College. You will missed.

Rick you will be missed with you continuous smile and always being a positive person. You always played pranks and kept us all laughing during high school. Then after high school you went on your venture in life and I went on mine to eventually meet up again working at Beale AFB. You were a very highly respected man in your job and life. Until we meet again my friend, may you rest in peace and god be with you.
