Mr. Dorman was my Region Manager for years in Marysville, District 3 Central Region. He was a man of honor, integrity, and innovation. When he saw a need, especially one that involved human suffering he was always quick to respond. After the levee broke in Marysville 1987 flooding the communities of Olivehurst and Linda, immeadiatly following the repair of the breech he instructed his Caltrans Special Crews staff to start setting up temporary pumping stations in a number of locations in Yuba County that were staffed 24/7. Without this quick action these people in those areas would have still been standing in water waiting for FEMA to get there. Pumping flood water wasn't a Caltrans responsibility. Later when I asked him about it he just smiled and replyed, "It was the right thing to do".
Truly, One of a kind. You will be missed.
