Carl Lane Obituary

Carl J. Lane, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, uncle and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 17, 2014.

Carl was born December 21, 1939 in Checotah, Oklahoma to Virgil and Juanita Lane.

Carl devoted 33 years of his life to Law Enforcement. Shortly after turning twenty-one he tested and was hired by the Yuba City Police Department and was among the first three officers to attend a formal police academy in the department. In 1966 he tested and was accepted to the California Highway Patrol, his first assignment was the Redwood City area. In the early seventies he returned to Oklahoma except for a short time with Washoe County Sheriff's Department in Reno, Nevada. In Oklahoma he was the Police Chief at four different departments, the last being in Kiowa, Oklahoma. After his retirement he moved back to California, first trying real estate, then in 2008 someone suggested he try process serving and with his background it was a perfect fit and he did it with the utmost integrity and professionalism.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Juanita Lane; brothers, Walter and Curtis; sisters, Martha, Alice and Bobbie.

Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Marianne; his brother, Jack Lane of Arizona; his children, Carla Bagley (Larry), of McAlester, Oklahoma, Matt Lane of Yuba City and Carly "Esther" Lane of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his step daughter, Jackie Anderson (Eric) of Yuba City; his grandchildren, Clint, Shawna, Amanda, Matthew and Ashley; and his great-grandchildren, Abigail, Delilah, and soon to be Maverick, all of whom filled his life with love and laughter.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00 am at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City, CA followed by burial at Sutter Cemetery, Sutter, CA.
