I fondly remember meeting Bill when I was writing fishing columns in The Atlanta Journal beginning in 1969. He gave me some ideas for columns, offered fishing tips, and sold me two fishing rods that are still enjoyed about 40 years later when I go to lakes.
I talked to him numerous times and respected him very much. Bill was a member of the "greatest generation," and America needs a lot more fine men like him.
I am sure that in heaven, Bill will find the wind out of the west when fish bite the best, and he'll be speaking in fishing seminars.
