I have said many times that Chuck was truly a "trophy of God's grace." The tragedy of Watergate was turned into a beautiful trophy of the redemptive work of God. What Chuck accomplished for God so far exceeds anything he accomplished politically. I eagerly look forward to sharing eternity with him. I pray that you will experience the perfect, precious peace of Jesus during this time.

Although I never met Chuck in person, as an admirer and follower of his ministry for many years, it was evident to me that he was rich not only in his many achievements, but also in his private happiness. Indeed, his public achievements were rooted in his private happiness. The great turning point of his life was meeting his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

On that we have the plain testimony of a loving and grateful husband, father, grand father and friend. I share in their grief today. But I also share in their pride.

For the many years I've followed Chuck, I can remember nothing less than his deep love for God and his zeal for souls. He was a great mentor to me and many others. Indeed, his inspiration will ever remain as part of my life.

While the short comings of Chuck's early years had seemingly taken it's toll on his service to our country, his faith in and dedication to our Lord, Jesus Christ, gave him a new spirit, making Chuck evermore courageous to overcome his past and to meet some of life's most enduring challenges. What the Satan meant for evil, God meant for good!

We may be sure that the Lord never forgets those who remember Him. And as the last journey of this faithful pilgrim took him beyond the sunset, and as heaven's morning broke, I like to think - in the words of Bunyan - that `all the trumpets sounded on the other side'.

Yet, we here still move in twilight. But we have one beacon to guide us that Charles “Chuck” Colson never had. We have his example. Let us give thanks today for a life that achieved so much for so many, through God's amazing grace.

I enjoyed hearing Mr. Colson on BreakPoint. His work for Prison Fellowship was tremendous. May his soul rest in peace. Alice R. Anderson
