Dear Mary and Family,
We were sorry to hear about our friend Charlie's passing. After we moved from Sandy Springs and the Hickory House closed it left a void in my social life. We all enjoyed each others' jokes and stories. Charlie will be missed by all who knew him. Thanks to you he changed from a cotton picker to a polished politician from Murray County and a respected judge and legislator.
I regret I'll be unable to attend Charlie's funeral and pay my last respects to a man of wisdom but in 2009 I suffered a massive stroke and am now confined to home in a wheel chair .Jean is my caregiver....a big change in our lives since Aruba Circle days.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family and may the Lord bless you and keep you at this difficult time.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Sorry to hear about Uncle Charlie passing - my thoughts and prayers are with this family.

My late father, William J. Porter, Jr., held Judge Carnes in the highest regard both personally and professionally. I was fortunate enough to meet and know the Judge as a young lawyer and his advice and counsel were always immeasurable. In keeping with his general practice, I feel assured Judge Carnes immediately made fun of dad's golf swing the moment they were reunited. Your entire family remains in our thoughts and prayers.

My deepest condolences to the family, We are all subject to Ecclesiastes 9:11,12, but we look forward to a better future.

I am very sorry for your loss. I remember him fondly from when I was child ... and also had the privilege to obtain his advice on law school and making a career of being an attorney. He is one of the few judges I place on a pedestal and see him as the measure for all others.

I am sorry to hear of your father's passing. I lost my mother in February and "Bubba" my brother last July.

We all have so much to thank Judge Carnes for. His leadership and guidance were a source of strength for both bench and bar. I, among so many, would not be where I am today without Judge Carnes' help. He was a consensus builder, a role model for professionalism, and a friend to all. He will be so greatly missed.

Dear Julie,
I remember your dad from a long time ago--during our cheer leading and car wash days! He was always such a kind man. It seems everyone thought so. May God give you and your family peace and comfort. I am sure your dad heard these words, "well done my good and faithful servant".
