(Isaiah 11:6) 6 The wolf will reside for a while with the lamb, And with the young goat the leopard will lie down, And the calf and the lion and the fattened animal will all be together; And a little boy will lead them.
So it will be in the not so distant future when we will have access to nature's wonders in animals and never long again for an animal companion ever again, what joy God has promised for all us animal lovers. Aryn no doubt was a great companion.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special
friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water
and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we
remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy
and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special
to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops
and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body
quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green
grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy
kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and
you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from
your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm so sorry for you pain.
February 07, 2007

February 06, 2007
I am writing you to say I am sorry. I had a good friend that I loved her name was Callie. I have a picture of her in my mine and in my office. I still think of the tan, gold and black colors she had on her coat.(smile) We played a game called hit my hand. I would hit at hers and she would hit at mine. The object would be to see who would tap first and how many times. Of course, we both were very fast at getting points. I will pray for you and hope you will be encouraged by the many many memories you have of Aryn. Thanks to both of you for your service to us all.

For one of the very few times in my life, I am really at a loss for words. There don't seem to be any words that can express my true feelings about this death, but I'll try. I am so proud of Ruth and Mike for letting Aryn go with dignity. I share their feeling that we have lost an important part of our family. I once believed, "A dog was just a dog," but Aryn and his K9 brothers have changed how I feel about this noble animal. Aryn showed us all the true meaning of the phrase, "Sacrifice and Serve."
February 04, 2007
Mike and family: We were so touched by Aryn's story of bravery and love. We are so sorry for the loss of your good friend, partner, and protector. May he rest in peace and stand guard at the gates of Heaven until you meet again. God Bless.
February 03, 2007
It is an honor to be trusted to serve and protect. For K9 Officer Aryn, it was his passion. He served with honor, love, loyalty, and bravery. I'm grateful for His service and He is a true hero. To Cpl Waddell and the K9 Unit, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
February 02, 2007
May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
February 02, 2007
To the Waddell and Garner Families:

I am a deputy in a canine crew.
I have been trained to see it through.
When danger is near my ears perk up,
They taught me that when I was a pup.
I am often there to protect your rights,
My presence sometimes hinders fights,
I never attack with thought to kill,
When subduing one, my job I fulfill.
I never worry a single thought,
As to how I will fare at a certain spot.
The love I have for a handler's care,
Is all I need, each day to fare.
And if some day my luck turns bad,
I will relish the joys I have ever had.
To be with men who stand for good,
In a special kind of "brotherhood."
The story's end by now you know,
Of how I tried for a better show,
When I was called and I gave my all.
February 01, 2007
Thank you for watching over our men and women in uniform. They are able to go above and beyond their duties with you and other K9s by their sides.Because of your dedication, the world is a safer place. Be at peace. You are a testiment to the officer that trained and worked you. You were not only his partner, you were his friend. Bless you.
February 01, 2007

February 01, 2007
As a pet owner & animal lover, I know how bad this hurts. Aryn sounds like he was a great friend and partner. I will keep you in my prayers. I know Gwinnett was a better place for having him as one of our police officers.
February 01, 2007
My heartfelt condolences to you and your family on the lost of Aryn. There are no words that can fill the void in your heart and life. Hold on to the good memories of your time together and, most of all, remember the love he gave you. May God comfort you in your time of sorrow.
February 01, 2007
You sound like you did a great job, Aryn. I am sure your family and friends will miss you dearly. I know a few dogs were you are right now. I am sure you will fit right in! Happy hunting!

What a beautiful and moving service for Aryn today. So glad I could attend to give my respects to such a wonderful, faithful K9 Officer. Thank you, Aryn, for protecting the citizens of Gwinnett County.

Officer Waddell and family ... know that your hearts will heal in time, and that one day, you will be reunited with Aryn. Our pets are perfect examples of God's love, and will be waiting for us at Rainbow Bridge.

God Bless!
January 31, 2007
Your courage was without question, you never gave a thought to yourself, duty and love came first. I know you are now guarding Heven's Gate, where you await the arrival of other officers and K9's, and welcome them home with you.
January 31, 2007
As the stepfather of K-9 Cpl. Finnegan I would like to tell you, Mike, you and your family have been in my thoughts since we heard your sad news last week. We know Bots' relationship with Euro and have an idea of what you are going through. We hope today's service was a comfort to all of you. Remember the Rainbow Bridge. Hopefully many, many years down the road you will all be together again.
January 31, 2007
To Mike and Rick,
We raise oure children to be a good reflection of us. To do better and make us proud. As many of us who got to work along side Aryn know he was a hard worker and dedicated. It certainly was an honor to work along side him and his handlers.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to you for the loss of your friend and partner.
January 31, 2007
Mike, I am very new to my K9 unit and can only hope, pray, and train very diligently that my new partner will help bring me home safe night after night just as Aryn did for you. Aryn's braveness and loyalty will never be forgotten and will forever be remembered.
January 31, 2007
So sorry for the loss of your loyal friend.
January 31, 2007
What a wonderful, heroic dog. I know how hard it is to loose a furry family member--and they truly are a member of the family--especially one as special as Aryn. Just remember all the good times. I'm sure there were many.
Deepest Sympathy--Judy Kimsey
January 31, 2007
Aryn was a great officer and valued member of the department. There will never be enough thanks for the heroic job done and lives saved in Lilburn in 2004, as well as in everyday duties. Aryn, rest in peace, your watch is over.
January 31, 2007
Mike and Family, I know how close you were with Aryn. Not only was he a loyal partner but he was also part of your family. He did what any partner would have done and put himself in harms way so that others maybe safe. I am so grateful that we were able to be blessed with Aryn in this department for as long as we were. He will now be proctecting us from the gates of Heaven. I know that I will rest better knowing that we all have him watching over us. May God Bless you and your family during this time. We Love You, Robin and Nico DePaoli(Sugar Hill, Ga)

To the Waddell and Garner Families

There is no other loyalty like a K9 family member. That is multiplied a hundred more times when you are speaking about a police K9 partner. I know there was no partner like Aryn. Ask anyone who has been around a while about Gwinnett K9 and Aryn's name will always be right there. He always fought the great fight and that was never more evident than that night in Lilburn. I too remember that night working in radio. Aryn didn't hesitate to protect his fellow officers like a true police officer. He saved lives that night with no thought to his own-the true definition of a partner. A hero among hero's.

There was never any sweeter sound than to raise K9 on the radio and a human voice would try to answer.. but it was almost always over shadowed by Aryn's call. He was ready to go!

To Rick Garner... the foundation you established with Aryn from the beginning laid the ground work for his legacy with this department. Time and time again you both proved your worth and his talent as a great K9 and partner.

To Mike Wadell. To have one great partner you would be so lucky.......... but how lucky was Aryn to have two. You were both a formidable team when you were out there patrolling the streets of Gwinnett and how lucky we all were to have you out there.

The only consolation now is that Aryn is his old self... in no pain running free in perfect health. He is probably tracking everyone in Heaven! And some day........

"Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, and partner, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

My sympathies on the loss of Aryn to both the Garner and Wadell families and to the GCPD K9 unit.

Mike, Aryn is the true ideal of Hero and Partner. He will always be there to watch over you and your family in all that you do. We just want you to know that you and your family are in our prayers Brother.
January 30, 2007
Aryn was willing to give the ultimate gift; LIFE... to all of us on that night he was shot. A true hero, brave and thoughtless of his own wellbeing, we can only hope all of our partners are willing to do the same when we are in need.
A true Hero is never forgotten, the lives he saved are there to make sure we never forget.

Mike, Ruth and Nikki..Rick, Denise and family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
January 30, 2007
I am terribly sorry for you loss. As a fellow K9 handler, I know your partner was a true hero.
January 30, 2007

Gooooood Boy Aryn. Sleep well my friend.
January 30, 2007
Aryn will always be a Hero, he will forever be in our hearts, and he will always be a memory that we will never forget.
January 30, 2007
Aryn will be dearly missed and remembered, as a beloved family member, for the lives he saved, the people he touched, and the countless others in the Gwinnett County and metro Atlanta area whose lives were kept more safe and secure by the service Aryn and Mike provided together while the city slept.

For who have taken the time to express their heartfelt feelings here, you know the full measure of love, honor, and companionship that Aryn exemplified. We all owe an immeasurable debt of gratitude to those who serve, so I take this opportunity to say "thank you" not only to Aryn and Mike, but to all of our heroes.

MIKE,

I AM TRULY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. BEING A K-9 HANDLER I KNOW HOW YOUR PARTNER BECOMES PART OF YOUR FAMILY. IN SOME RESPECTS YOU BECOME CLOSER TO YOUR K-9 THAN YOU DO YOUR OWN FAMILY BECAUSE YOU SHARE SO MUCH TIME WITH THEM. MAY HIS MEMORY LIVE ON FOREVER.

Mike, Ruth and Family - Rick, Denise and Family: I was fortunate enough to have Rick and Aryn make a carjacking arrest for us early in his career and then Mike and Aryn on a drugs and guns arrest late in his career. It was always a comforting feeling to hear, "K-9 10-7." You both contributed to the development of an amazing and formidable force for good. "Evil Shall Triumph Only When Good Men Do Nothing." -EDMUNDE BURKE- Aryn did his share and then some. Godspeed and Semper Fi.

January 27, 2007
K-9's are the unsung heroes of law enforcement. There have been many times in my career that I have heard that loud bark and known that help was not far away. While I did not get to work personally with Aryn I have worked with many K-9's and have come to respect them. Aryn was a brave officer that nearly gave his life in the line of duty. He will be remembered forever.
January 27, 2007
Remember the happy times with Aryn and it will bring you comfort.Wish Icould have known this wonderful animal.

I did not get to know Aryn until he retired, I thanked him on many occasion for saving my son. I watched the bond between my son and his partner as Aryn looked over his shoulder many times as if to say I am still here if you need me. He never let Mike out of his sight. They walked and played together as Aryn stood proud to ward off his apparent injuries and control of his awkward body movement he lost in the line of duty.I don't know where Aryn is right this minute, but I do know he is looking over his shoulder letting Mike know he is still there if he needs him. Aryn's love for Mike was un-equal to anything I have ever seen. Go with dignity and honor and thanks again.
January 27, 2007

I am so sorry to hear about Aryn's death. I have had to put a few of my pets to "sleep", so I know how that feels. My dogs and cats were pets and did not have to protect me or the public. So the bond you and Aryn had was much closer and your loss so much harder. Please remember the good times you had with Aryn. As time goes by the grief will become more bearable. Think of how Aryn is watching over you and your family.

Aryn lived with me and my family when he was my fathers partner. I never knew a person could have so much love for an animal until I saw how Aryn and my father, Rick Garner, were together. He was a great dog and a loving partner to my father. My thoughts go out to everyone who knew and loved Aryn!
January 26, 2007
HE is more faithful even than the most boasted among men; HE is constant in his affection, friendly without interest, and grateful for the slightest favours; much more mindful of benefits received..Oliver Goldsmith
Man's best friend....
January 26, 2007

It takes a great owner to have a great dog. Aryn was a great dog! We can all smile thinking about the service Aryn provided to all of us, and he will be missed.
January 26, 2007
Mike, Ruth, and Nikki, I want to thank you first and foremost for allowing us our "special" visit with Aryn. That was the most admirable thing that anyone could have done for us. Aryn was truly one of a kind. The memories that both our families have of Aryn will never be taken away. One memory that we both share and can see clearly is Aryn laying in his plastic "kiddie" pool with his "kong" daring you to try and take it.
We love you Aryn and you will forever be in our hearts.
May God bless you Mike,Ruth, and Nikki in the loss of your "baby".
January 26, 2007

January 26, 2007
Mike, as you well know, we met in the academy and became friends through our career here. As a family man and an officer, I know how hard it is to lose a member of the family and a fellow officer, however, I don't think anyone could know how hard it is to lose both at the same time. Aryn was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for you and the other officers that were there the night he was shot. Although he is gone in body, his spirit and legacy will live in our hearts forever. Please take comfort in the fact that he is with God and will be on watch, keeping a post and waiting for the arrival of his partner. My families prayers are with you and yours and don't hesitate to call if you need anything at all. Take care brother.
January 26, 2007

Over the course of 8 years with the Gwinnett Police Department I have had many occassions to work beside Aryn, and can truly say that he was as much an officer of this police department as any of us. As a life time dog owner, I can sympathize with how the loss of Aryn is like losing a member of the family. I pray that God will comfort you and your family. Trust Him and He will lead you home. May God bless you for your service to mankind.
January 26, 2007
My fondest memory Aryn was during the academy when he demonstrated his ability to apprehend one of my classmates while in a k-9 training suit. He made the officer run for his life. Having been an owner of a couple of retired police dogs, I know what it is like for a police dog to be a part of the family.
January 26, 2007
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family during this time. I know that you and your family will miss Aryn. He was a loyal friend and part of your family as well as the Gwinnett County Police Department.
January 26, 2007
Mike (& Family),
I know the loss of any family pet is difficult. Many of us have experienced this same loss in our lives, I have myself on more than one occassion. This does not make it any easier or less of a loss. I feel your loss brother!

One day 'the Lion will lay down by the Lamb.' Sincerely,

I know the decision to help him cross over was very hard for the Wadell family but I'm sure Aryn was grateful for all their compassionate care and the love they gave him. Cpl Wadell, please know that this separation from Aryn is only temporary - you will see him again at the Rainbow Bridge and until then, know that he is still sending you love from the other side. May God grant you peace in your time of loss.

Rest in peace Aryn.
January 25, 2007
To Cpl. Waddell and Family, Aryn is now amongst the bravest of the brave, along with all the angels (who I still think of and smile) who have touched my life and have passed. May this prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, ease your pain:

A tool in your hands I am, dear God, the sweetest instrument you have shaped my being into. What makes me now complete - feeling the soul of every creature against my heart. Does every creature have a soul? Surely they do; for everything God has touched will have life forever, and all creatures he has held.
January 25, 2007
I am truely sorry for your loss. I recently lost my best friend after 15 years. Know in your heart that Aryn will wait for you and meet you on the Rainbow Bridge so that you will always be together.
January 25, 2007
God Bless You Officer. I know that the pain is overwhelming. Just remember Aryn did love you. He protected you. Our pets are our family. Just like our own kids because they have such a kid like innocence and you can't help but to love them. They are always, without fail, there to greet you and show the love that really only as your best friend can. They are simply more than just our best friends, they are in so many ways a confidante who you know will never repeat anything you say :). They listen when there is noone else to talk too. I'm sure Aryn knew how much he was loved by everyone, except the criminals. You go Aryn. My deepest sympathies go out to the K-9 Units who loved, and yes, even respected Aryn.
January 25, 2007
He was a great dog.

You and your family have my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I recently lost my 13-year old best friend, George, so I truly know your grief. Nothing can fill the Aryn-shaped hole in your hearts, but know that your friends and family will help to comfort you. I remember when Aryn was shot; I cried then for him and was happy to hear that he had recovered and was living in retirement-bliss with you. Your life was touched in the most positive way by him, and his by you. He will always be with you and will always love you. Some day your paths will meet again, so keep your running shoes handy ... he'll be ready for a romp!

All dogs go to Heaven, where they watch over us. I'm glad to know my beloved pets have such an honorable new pal to play with. Aryn lived and served his community well. He earned and deserves his place of honor.

All of us who knew Aryn now have a Guardian Angel watching over us. He was an amazing dog and will be missed. We are thinking of you!

ARYN, YOU ARE AT PEACE NOW- AND WE LOVED YOU WHILE YOU WERE WITH US AND WERE SO PROUD OF YOU- WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU.
January 25, 2007
My condolences to you and your family. Just like a member of your family, Aryn is now gone but never forgotten. May God give you comfort.
January 25, 2007
They are a truly unselfish family member with unconditional love to give and protection unlike anyone could imagine. I've lost more than one of my "family" members...I'm truly sorry for your loss. The hurt is beyond real and can only be truly comprehended by someone who has unselfishly shared their life with their friend and constant companion. I pray the Lord will help you move on and will send another ray of sunshine into you life to help ease the pain of losing one so great and so giving.
January 25, 2007
Sorry for your loss. I understand and support you for not dealing with the press. The loss of Aryn would be too personal. Know that you now have a four footed guardian angel that will help you get through the days and help you with training your next partner. It was definitely a life that wasn't wasted and will always be remembered.
January 25, 2007
Sorry for your loss. Aryn sounds like he was a great dog and great friend in addition to being a selfless hero. Cpl Mike, thanks for making Aryn's last year peaceful and full of love.
January 25, 2007
I'm sorry for your loss.
January 25, 2007
My condolences to you, I know how it feels, I lost a wonderful Lab a few years ago and it is hard for people who dont have animals to know how deep the grief is and it had to be extra hard where Aryn was your partner.
January 25, 2007
May you find comfort in knowing what a fine job you have done with this wonderful animal. Losing an animal is never easy but take time to remember all the special moments that you shared with Aryn. Aryn went beyond his call of duty and for that we all should be thankful. His bravery will never be forgotten. May God comfort you during this time of grief. Not only did you lose a friend, you lost your partner.

K9s are the bravest among the brave. They go selflessly where others may question. They protect those who protect us. They are part of our family but they serve the city or county for whom they work. They will be remembered forever.

My thoughts are with you:
RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of heaven,
is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
And when our beloved pets die,
it’s to this beautiful place they fly.

There are meadows and hills,
for running and playing,
there’s food and water aplenty.

The sun always shines, a gentle wind blows,
and the beloved ones who had been ill and old,
are restored to health and vigor.

Those who were hurt or maimed,
are now made whole and strong,
just as we’ve remembered them,
in our dreams all along.

And all the creatures are happy,
except for one small thing,
they each miss someone so special to them,
and wait for that person to take wing.

They all run and play together,
but that special day comes for each,
when he suddenly stops and looks afar,
the bright eyes intent, the body quivering,
he runs away from the group.

As fast as he can he flies over the grass,
for you have been joyously spotted,
and when you meet, you cling together,
nevermore to be parted.

Happy kisses rain upon your face,
your hands again caress the beloved head,
as you look once more into the trusting eyes,
of your beloved pet.

So long gone from your life,
but never absent from your heart,
you cross Rainbow Bridge together,
never again to be apart.

Grieve not Mr. Waddle,
nor speak of Aryn with tears,
but laugh and talk of him
as if he were beside you...
He loved you so (Mr. Waddle & family)
'twas Heaven here with YOU.

Aryn, you are another example that if more people were as loyal and dedicated as dogs are what a wonderful world this would be. Thanks for your service. The world is a better place because of you. Unfortunately we cannot say that about all who walk among us. Officer Waddell please accept my thanks for your service and my sincere condolences for your loss and our loss. It's dogs like Aryn and Sirius (the only K-9 police dog killed in the September 11 attacks) that make our world a better place. Time will heal.
January 25, 2007
Mr. Waddell, we are so sorry for your loss and send you our best wishes. Keep lots of pictures of Aryn all over the house and talk to him each day. It will help. We just lost our beloved Sara the day after Christmas and we can appreciate the depth of your grief. There's nothing more perfect on this earth than a dog.

To Cpl. Waddell & his family: As an owner of 3 dogs (a yellow lab, beagle & a bassett hound adopted thru Bassett Hound Rescue of Georgia) I truly understand the broken heart you have right now. Just remember the good times you spent with Aryn, and find comfort in knowing that he's now in a better place across the Rainbow Bridge. He truly was a hero, in every sense of the word! As a mother of a college student at Oglethorpe Univ, I salute you and ALL others in Atlanta-area law enforcement---whether 2-legged or 4-legged! THANK YOU for all you do in keeping Atlanta safe for everyone--- including young college students living away from home! :o) May God Bless you, your family, your fellow officers & Aryn!

When I had to put my dog down, someone said "I had a dog when I was young and it died. I'll never have another." I said "The degree of unconditional love that is given by a dog to his master is worth every single tear we cry for them once they are gone. They are truely eternal companions. God bless you and ease your pain.
January 25, 2007
Our sympathies and love go out to you and your family on the loss of beloved Aryn. There is a special place in 'doggie' heaven for him.

The death of a beloved pet is exactly like loosing a family member. My prayers go out to Officer Waddell and his family. I lost my dog after 18 wonderful years. He passed four years ago and it still hurts. Therefore, my advice to Officer Waddell is not to rush the grieving process. This is a huge loss and it will take time. But hang in there. It does get better to handle and cope with. Time may not heal all wounds but it sure does take some sting out of it bit by bit. Just keep praying sir. Thank you Aryn for your service and loyalty. Good job boy!
