Heaven doesn't have to wait any longer. Helen and Sambo, together forever.
Was sorry to hear about your father. I know how much he meant to you. Please accept our condolences.
Moved into the Inman/Woolsey communities in 1980. First met Dr. Ferrol Sams, Jr. after a dog bite. For years I jogged by his "home place" on the road to Brooks. Dr. Sams and Jim Minter are two remarkable/special individuals. Related to them through their literary works and rural backgrounds. They are a treasury for Fayette County and beyond.
Related to them through their literary works and rural-country backgrounds. Both are treasures to Fayette County and beyond.
Sorry to hear about Dr. Sams. We were introduced to his books by my cousin and read them over and over. His words brought much laughter and joy through some very difficult years with or autistic son. It's funny that we re-read his books during the best of times and the worst of times. God bless you all and his memory.
A wonderful man who enriched the world with his eloquence and ability to articulate society , past and present! He will be remembered well
No matter why I was there to see him, he always made me feel better when he walked in the room and said "What's the matter honey? He was my doctor from the age of two until he retired.
Rest in Peace, Sambo. The world was a better place for you're being here. you will be missed.
What joy and laughter he brought to us. We will miss him and pray your loving memories hold you through these sad times.
May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
MY HEART IS HEAVY. SAMBO WAS MY DOCTOR AND MY WIFE'S DOCTOR FOR MANY YEARS. HE ALWAYS CALLED HER "MISS MARGARET" HE WAS SUCH A DELIGHT. WE LOOKED FORWARD TO COMING TO SEE HIM. IT WAS MORE LIKE A VISIT WITH A FRIEND. WE LAUGHED, GIGGLED AND SHARED MOMENTS. WE WILL MISS HIM GREATLY.
I love you Dr. Sambo and Dr. Helen. I worked for you for 8 years and enjoyed every day I worked with you, always showing love to your patients and employees. Dr. Sambo will be missed. My love, prayers and condolences to all of you.
So sorry to hear about Dr. Sams.I know he's got to be in heaven being welcomed by Ms. Lizzie and all his many other friends. He was a talented gentleman.
My deepest condolences to the Sams family. I was fortunate to be Dr. Sams patient in 1980 when he helped me and gave me some great advice of which I still remember and am happy to have achieved part of it! A farm is soothing to my mental health but still haven't got the cow to milk! I was very fortunate to meet him at a critical time in my life and am surely a better person for having met him! May God bless and His angels take you home to heaven where you surely belong!
I never had the pleasure of meeting your father/grand father, but I felt like I had, through his wonderful books. Because of those books, you will always have him near. I am truly sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

my sympathy, and condolences to and family and friends for lost of your one
Dear Dr. Sams Jr.'s family and friends,
Dr. Sams, I'm sure, has touched many lives being a physician. Dr. Sams had this in common with "the beloved physician Luke." (Col. 4:14) Luke was one of Jesus Apostles. Jesus gave us a sure hope. John 5:28 says, "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." No doubt the Physician Luke trusted in this hope as well.
Our thoughts are with all of the family. Please accept our condolences at this time of grief. I remember lunch many, many years ago with the family and being impressed with the "Southern Gentlemen" who did not take themselves too seriously. Much love to you all.
Dr. Sams was special to my parents, Joe and Mary Louise DeFoor. My father was one is Dr Sams' teachers in Fayetteville High School. I too enjoyed Dr Sams' writing.
Dr. Sams was more than a doctor to me, he was a friend and a real true southern gentleman and lets not forget politician.
My first introduction to Dr Sam's was at the age of two,I believe it was love at first sight. He diagnosed me with diabetes at age eight and made it less scary than it was. He and Dr Helen have been part of my and my parents life as long as I can remember. I know the world will be a little less interesting and a lot less funny. I wish his family much love and peace. He will be greatly missed.
I have many fond memories of both DRS SAMs from the time I lived in Fayetteville and of my visit with them in 2012, thanks to Lucille fields. He was a good doctor and as Jim Minter says a very, very good writer! Sambo, you will be missed!
My condolences to the family on Dr Sams' passing. I can't adequately express how much I loved his books and all the great laughs I got from reading them. I know he's up in heaven leading the story hour!
With deepest sympathy to the Sams Jr. family during your time of grief...God is for you a refuge and strength, A help that is there to be found during difficult times...May God provide you with peace and comfort to endure the days ahead.
Dr. Sam's will always hold a special place in my life. If it had not been for Him and His Wife I would have died and did but they got me back.Never left my side stayed in the doctors office until they released me.1973 l was stung by over a thousand bumble bees.Dr. Helen & Dr. Sam's stayed in the Room with me for I think two days. Had it not been for them I would not be here. He also took care of my Grand parents. Will always love the Sam's.
I owe my life to Dr. Sams...He diagnosed me in 1979 with nephrotic syndrome and had me rushed to Piedmont hospital. I'm sure there are many stories like mine. He was not only a wonderful doctor but a wonderful human being. May God bless Dr.Helen and the rest of your family. God speed my friend!
Dr.Sams discovered I had cancer when I was 15. He helped save my life.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time; Dr. Sams was such a gifted and generous man.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
I am so sorry about the loss of your dear Ferrol Sams Jr. I know that he was more than a doctor to you, he was a loved one.
I like his picture. Dr. Ferrol seemed very happy showing off his wonderful smile in the picture.I know you will miss him very much.
Memories truly aid us in remembering the great things about our loved ones. I lost my father two years ago and I allow the wonderful memories that I did make with him before he died fill my heart with joy.
I often think about when I was a little girl, always wanting to be with my daddy. He would often pick me up on his shoulders and take me for walks in the neighborhood. I just smile so big when I think about those wonderful memories.
I know you have made some wonderful memories with Dr. Ferrol Sams Jr. and those will help you smile a little bigger each day. Please also be encouraged by reading Psalms 37:11,29.
So sorry to hear of your loss. He was special to all that had the priviledge of knowing him. He was
an asset to all of Fayette County and will be greatly missed.
My heart goes out to the family of this wonderful man. A great doctor, outstanding author. So many great things to remember. Our prayers are with you.
Love of family, love of the land, love of friends, love of country, love of God. In any country, in any religon, in any family, these are admirable traits. Porter Osbourne taught us these lessons and we are all better for having known him. Thank you Dr. Sams. Condolences to the family and thank you for sharing him with us.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Dr Sams was an amazing man and always fun to talk to.
Loved his books. Sorry for the loss. But I'm sure he is with our Lord now!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
