A fond, fond memory of a South Mississippi girl.....JOHN 14 gone to a special place in the Heavenly chorus
What a delightful, sweet and funny man was your father! Before Southern Discomfort even existed,Hagan gave his wit, songs and acting abilities to the "Cracker Crumble, the annual GA Press Assoc. fund-raiser for Georgia journalism. Hagan was handsome, hilarious and just cracked us all up in rehearsals and performances. He was a warm and loving man whom we all adored and missed when he relocated to St. Simons. Please add my name to the list of folks who treasure his memory My prayers are with you.

Unforgettable, that's what you are! Hagan kept me smiling back in the "good old days" at EPA. He was a GREAT person to know. - Sharonita
Hagan was bigger than life. He could keep you in stitches for hours on end. Even when he told the same jokes or pulled his witty stunts ("Have I shown you a photo of my Pride & Joy?) for the umpteenth time he could crack you up. He was "Mechanically Challenged", always seeking help to fix a flat tire on his bike or inflating an air mattress. Don't even ask about his failings in putting up a tent. Once, while camping on a bike trip in California, a couple of us were preparing to hang our food from bears, racoons and other critters. The duffle bag was empty as we prepared the rope for a correct drop for access and substantial height to thwart the afore mentioned thieves. Hagan walked up looking puzzled as usual and asked what were we doing. "Bears", I said, "We are trying to get the proper height on this bag." Hagan replied, "Why would a bear eat a duffle bag?" His improv questions, answers and queried looks never failed to evoke Belly Laughs.
Hagan got into one's being. He becomes an extension of everything you thought you knew about fun and humor.
I'm getting to the age where I accept the death of my dear friends, forever keeping in mind the gift they gave me or better still deeply etched into my being 'til the day I die. If there is a heaven, God is laughing his head off.
We love you Hagan. Thanks for being in our lives.

Hagan was a great guy to know and work with. Through the years on numerous occasions we traveled together on EPA business to participate in public meetings. Because of his fantastic personality and extensive experience working with the people, public, he helped make my job easier. He was always good for a good laugh. You will be missed for sure!!
Dan, Edie, and all the Thompson family: You are in my prayers as you celebrate your father's life. There is so much love to celebrate. May you be comforted in the life-affirming and everlasting peace of the Creator. Jennifer Hornbuckle
Hagan, Like so many, I found you to be a friend who took me under his wing--later I found out that that was what you did for all of us. Thanks for the laughs, the advice and that never ending smile. Now I am trying decide whether God needed a Public Affairs Officer, a writer, a singer or a dancer. Well, in you he got a quality utility player who could, as they say, "Do it all." Rest in peace my friend, you have earned it!!!. I miss you already.
Hagan lived a life full of love, joy and humor. I am proud to have known him.
I was fortunate to become a friend of Hagan's in the 90s and subsequently laughed with him and at him. He was a great guy who left me with good memories of a bike ride or two and his wonderful sense of humor. My condolences to his family.
Hagan, you took me under your wing about a minute after I got to EPA. Your satirical humor was illuminated by an incredible insight into people. You showed me that we can have fun while doing our best work; that we do our best work when we make it fun.
Many's the time I stopped by Hagan's office when I needed a laugh or perhaps a little sage advice. Hagan, you were a great guy and a wonderful friend.
Many's the time I stopped by Hagan's office to hear the latest joke, share a laugh, and maybe get a little sage advice when things got a little too serious. Hagan, you were a great guy and a wonderful friend.

Hagan was wonderful & funny person to be around. He might have had a hard time remember things later in his life, but he remembered every word of Southern Discomfort songs! You will remember in all our hearts, Hagan
