Praying for the family .. Coach Davis taught me at Westwood High School. Coach you will be well missed...Class of 86
January 05, 2013
May God comfort you! Coach Davis taught me at Westwood High School between 1983-1988!
December 27, 2012
To our Aunt Juanita, Judy and Joel,
Uncle Jesse was a jewel who loved his family. We, as his nieces will remember his love for us and his guidance through the years. He was always concerned about our education and what we were doing. His love for Grandma Ruth will be an example for how we are to love and treasure our parents.
Uncle Jesse touched so many lives from Asheville to Atlanta, from Stephens-Lee to all the schools he taught and coached.
Grandma Ruth and Granddaddy were sitting there smiling when Uncle Jesse came home. You know Uncle Edward was somewhere fixing something. Smile, he is at home with his loved ones waiting for us to join him. "Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

From Matthew 5:4
We love you,
Sharon, Shelva and Audra

December 21, 2012
When I moved to Atlanta in 1980, my first coaching job was at Campbell and I was Coach Davis' assistant basketball coach. I remember his smile and his kind words for everyone - teachers and students. I also remember his sweet golf swing. 32 years later I have retired from coaching ---- and remember lessons I learned from JJ.

To our Beloved Family:

There are no words to express our deepest sympathy in the loss of your
Husband, Father, Grandfather and our “Big Brother”. Jesse J. Davis, Jr.

If only words could comfort…... If only hearts could share the burden of your sorrow. Today, the “if's” seem so endless, and certainties so few, but memories last forever… the love we all shared will last forever. A heart full of memories is to be wholly lovingly human; and to heal, day by day is to build a bridge of Love that will reach far beyond time into forever

Jesse lived life like a light… so beautiful and rare, that everyone within its glow were blessed because it was there, and though the light has gone out on earth, the beauty it revealed to us lives on and always will.

Remember God is with you every moment of the day to bless you with His watchful care, to hear you when you pray, to give you strength for all your needs as only He can do, so ask Him for your heart's desires, and He will care for you. For He said in
Hebrews 13:5 “I will never leave you nor forsake you”.

Love to Each of You,

Sincerely,

Your Family, The Galloway's, Harris' Brantley's & Foster's

In reflecting over the years at Fairburn High School, I recall the atmosphere created through Coach Davis and his leadership of the athletic teams. Everyone in Fairburn and surrounding areas looked forward to the weekly games and supported the teams as one big family. These were exciting times for young people, especially, and participation in play probably kept some out of trouble. Coach Davis also ran the summer program at the gym, which we all looked forward to. Besides that, Coach Davis was just cool and a great dresser! These are some of the things I remember about Coach Davis, and though we are sad he's gone, he is in a better place and has left great memories for us all. Rest in peace, and thanks, Coach.

Mr. Davis was an educator extraordinaire! He entered the field of education prior to the integration of public schools in the metro area. He joined a group of similarly dedicated teachers who were fully committed to the delivery of the best education possible. They were outstanding teachers and could have ably competed with teachers anywhere in the world! Over the course of many years he helped to shape and inspire many lives, especially mine. He spoke in short cadences yet his words, if one listened, were wise and well-placed. He loved his wife, his children and his students! As I became an adult, he became my friend. I will always cherish the conversations and words of widsom he deposited into my life. People like Mr. Davis never die! Firstly, he now rests with God free of anything that concerned him on earth. Secondly, he continues to live on earth through his players. The nuggets of worthwhile information he shared on a regular basis will continue to circulate for decades to come. Our grandchildren will benefit from the life lessons he taught us. For years to come, basketball stars will run the court under the tutelage of those he trained. I am so grateful to have known Jesse Davis!

I know that losing Mr. Jesse J. Davis Jr. is very painful. I know because I loss some one as special to me as Mr. Jesse Davis was to you. I lost my father.

My father never complained of any symptoms or pain however he went into the hospital and never came back home. Yes, it hurts to know that we could not do anything to keep him alive. It hurts to know that we could have spent more time with him if we had known that he was sick. Each person wished they could have done more before our loved one died.

I want you to know that many people have experience the same tragedy as yourself. And we can all be a source of comfort to each other.

Dealing with a devastating situation on your own can become overwhelming, however knowing that you have a friend who is there for you makes things a little more comforting.

I know that many around you are trying to reach out to comfort you, don't push them away. Let each person give you the support you need. Remember that we do not have to do this on our own. Let the warm loving hands of dear friends and family embrace you during this time of need. -Proverbs 18:24
Continue to take one day at a time and take some time out for yourself to reflect on the great memories you have.
