Indeed Lil's spirit was present throughout the joyful celebration of her generous life during the April 15th memorial service, so thoughtfully planned in part by Lil and also by loving family who hosted the event beautifully. Thank you all.
And thank you Lil for your abundant love and continuing inspiration as you call all creation into Beloved Community, reminding us, as the song proclaims, "We all are family/ and I want to live in peace with you." So may it be.
You will be missed Lil. You were an inspiration to me when I lived in GA and a support! We will all have to work harder for peace and justice. Lorraine, Grandmothers for Peace
My mother spoke of you often around our dinner table. I felt as if I knew you personally and your unending fight for the rights of all people. You were an inspiration for many people, including those of us who only knew you by name.
My deepest sympathies for your family. May you find comfort in the words of Jeremiah 29:11-12, "For I myself well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you...thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope. And you will certainly call me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you." Do not let go of the hope that she dearly held on to for it is not in vain.
My deepest sympathy to the family
My condolences to Lil's family -- and also my gratitude to you, for sharing your mother with so many who grew to love her and your father through the SOA Watch work. Lil was, and still is, a very bright light. She has changed but she is with us still.
Lil, frail these past few years, but up to the end she continued to speak for the voiceless. It was an honor to march onto the grounds of Ft. Benning ,GA which houses the infamous School of the Americas. Arm in arm singing, we marched together risking arrest. I felt safe with Lil. She was 75 at the time. Lil's greatest gift was her humility. I asked her about her pending death a few weeks ago and in fashion she told me she was going back to the stars. She called it "Stardust. Lil Corrigan, a good and faithful servant, and a reason to continue to believe...
Lil Corrigan, "Presente"
Blessings on all.
May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Sympathy to family and friends and comfort. Eccl.9:11.
Our family will be praying for consolation for Lil's family as they mourn for sweet Lil. She was such an inspiration to us in her commitment and work for justice and peace. I stood in vigil with Judy in Marietta Square in Lil's honor last Friday, holding a simple sign saying, "peace...no war." I learned so much about nonviolence and peacemaking through the Pax Christi group she co-founded at Transfiguration. Lil was a bright light in our world, and her light of faith, hope and peace continues on. I will always be thankful for Lil's example, smile, prayers, and friendship.
Lillian's tiger spirit for justice worn in the smile and demeanor of a cuddly lamb makes her memory for those of us in the SOAWatch movement a cherished one. Lillian Corrigan,Presente! Kathleen Desautels, SP
As you the family celebrate a life well-lived, may your hearts be filled with joy and laughter, as you recall all the "happy" times you shared together. (Psalm 90:10)
To my dear and faithful friend. I shall miss our spirited conversations, special moments, Wednesday afternoons, and our chinese food lunches.
Peace be with you on your journey through the universe.
I love you.... I love you .....I love you!
LIL WAS A RADIANT EXAMPLE OF JUSTICE AND PEACE. THROUGH PAX CHRISTI IN HER PARISH, SHE ALWAYS SOUGHT TO BE PEACE THROUGH JUSTICE. I WILL MISS HER DEEPLY
Don't let that sweet face fool you. Lillian was a real force for peace and justice among us. The face of a force more powerful...nonviolent acts of resistance to injustice in the world.
It was a blessing to know Lillian and participate along side her in the continuing mission of SOA Watch.
May the God of comfort be with your family at this most difficult time. God will comfort all the mourning ones. Isaiah 61:2
My condolences to the family of Lillian Corrigan. May the peace of God comfort you at this time.(Philippians 4:7) As an activist in peace and human rights, she was concerned about being peaceable with others. Isaiah 2:2-4 states that the world will one day filled with peace. She had the right idea.
I'm so deeply grateful to have known this amazing woman and am very saddened by her loss. Her honesty and continual search for truth inspired me and many others. I'm imagining her now when I look at the night sky and think of her as one with the mysterious cosmos she loved so much.
