Words cannot satisfactorily express the sadness we all feel after hearing of the passing of your father earlier this month.
He was a true friend to all who knew him, his legion of fans developed through the music of
Maze or the personal side that we all were privileged to know and appreciate.
Like Frankie said, your dad's “heart was as big as the sky.”
His love of people and especially children was surpassed only by his kindness and gentle nature that he displayed to all.
Not a day goes by that I don't hear his voice, remember his smile or see him on stage doing what he loved most, making music and singing.
As you know, my friendship with him developed long ago in a tiny house in East Oakland. I enjoyed many special times with him over the years and I will hold those close to my heart forever.
He left a wonderful legacy and I have no doubt you will follow his lead. I know he was extremely proud of you. There is nothing like the love between a father and daughter. I know that firsthand.
May you take comfort in the thought that your dad is resting peacefully in the hands of the Lord. We are all better people for knowing him.
We continue to pray for you and his family and will do whatever possible to keep him alive in our hearts.
Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance in the coming months.
Peace be with you, Allison.
Our love and prayers always

In Memory of my Best Friend:
McKinley "Bug" Williams of Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. I Wanna Thank You for all the years of beautiful Music, Happiness, and Friendship.
Today is your day, I truly miss all the good and bad times that we grew from. It's because of our Friendship that I continue to provide pre & post productions, it's because of our Friendship that I continue to create my legacy.
It became clear with your going home that I should follow up on the long talks we had about this legacy thing, (I even plan to dedicate an event in your memory).
I didn't know how important my contribution to history was until "BUG" passed. Mckinley would always find a way to bring this up in our conversions, "No matter what your accumulation in wealth is, your awards or legacy in life comes from what you have contributed to the world not yourself". This was his concern for me, it wasn't until he passed that I really sat down and evaluated my life and what I would do next.
Here's to One Year & a Day.
A Toast to you My Best Friend.
McKinley "Bug" Williams, you will always have a place in my heart.
Michele Stoute VP Marketing with
Michael Burton Productions
McKinley'Bug'Williams the foundation and rock of our times with music history forever. To The Family of McKinley Williams - I just learned today of Mr. Williams death while watching the BET awards presentation to MFFB on line with my sister. Mr. Williams always had a smile on his face while performing - it was so obvious that he loved playing music and being a part of bringing joy to the audience. I say a prayer for you and please know that Mr. Williams played an integral part in touching many lives in a positive way with the vehicle of music.
I wanna thank you......for all the sweet music.....you will not be forgotten....R.I.P
All Praises To Allah for McKinley Williams, his beautiful smile and great gift of music and songs. The memories left are legacies of "LOVE" Williams and Maze Families there are "BRIGHTER DAYS TO COME"PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL!
I just heard Roame on BET, paying tribute to Bug, and that's how I learned he had passed. In the early 70s I was their 'volunteer' driver and friend. They were still Raw Soul then but already destined to blow up. Mac was a positive force of nature, a good friend. My condolences to all his loved ones. His daughter is so beautiful, a reflection of his spirit. RIP.
Mckinley was a fine man and musician.I loved all the percussion that he perfected into the Maze Band.My brother will surely be missed and difficult to replace. What moves through us is a silence,a quiet sadness,a longing for many more days, more words, more percussion. We must remember not just that you left the planet, most of all that you live.Your life and music gave many memories so beautiful that we will never forget.
It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through.
My Love, you called me "The Love of your Life", and for 34 years you proved it and never stopped Loving me thru it all. Finally Frankie and Maze will receive the " Life Time Achievment Award ". Funny how we talked about all the Awards you guys where Forgotten and Overlooked for, you where always so modest. I Know you and Sam are really having a good Laugh. I pray for Allie I know she misses you more than words can say. But you my Love have now received the "Greatest Award of All Time" our God and Father's Reward. This time last year we where looking for Allie's birthday gift only for them to send you the wrong diamond earrings, so you kept one and I the other. I will miss you everyday and my Love for you is still on Top, and "Congratulations" on you and the Guys Award truly a LifeTime coming. ~Goldie~
Happy Birthday McKinley...forever missed....forever loved.... M.
This feels like losing a family member...I've followed MAZE featuring Frankie Beverly since I can remember. I've always been fascinated at watching "Bug" during a concert. He was so energetic and seemingly passionate about the music no matter how many times the song was sung. That is musicianship. To the immediate family...weeping may come at night but joy comes in the morning and God will wipe away ALL tears. I am a witness. God Bless you all!
we went to see Frankie Beverly and Maze in Macon
Georgia at the Centerplex Mar 31 as soon as
they came on stage i saw that Mckinley was missing it bother me the whole concert as soon as I got back to my room I searched the internet and found out that Mckinley was gone.

My cousin and I met McKinley two years ago in my hometown of Jackson,MS. He was so nice and had such a warm and beautiful smile. We attended the show and as always it was awesome!! We kept in touch and laughed often; he would check on me and I would check on him from time to time. He was a good man, he loved his family, his Maze family, and making people happy through song. I will always remember our conversations about antique cars and a favorite that we shared, a 1966 Chevy Impala with basket rims. Now he's making Angelic Music and oh how happy the audience must be! May God bless your family and keep your spirit in His loving care. McKinley, I'll be missing you always, from the words you all sang and played, "I want to thank-you for you made it that way".

To the Mckinley Family & Frankie Beverly & maze you have my deepest sympathy i just saw the group at the Hampton Jazz festival and never once thought that i would never see bug again but i will always keep him in thought when i see the group perform his smile will be everlasting.
In 1977 two events forever shaped the lives of my husband and I. We began dating and he introduced me to the sound of a new band he'd seen on the Don Kirshner show. Our love for each other and the music of Maze seems to have grown up together in the 32 years we have been married. We have attended over 125 shows with each show being as exciting as the 1st. One of our fondest Maze memories was the show we attended in Albany Ga, where we had the opportunity to meet Mr. Mckinley, Frankie and Roame backstage. They made us feel so welcome and even invited us to be their special backstage guests at their show in Columbus Ga the following night for our anniversary. For that we will eternally be grateful. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Williams and Maze family that we have been made to feel so much a part of. May your families be comforted in knowing how much Mr. Mckinley was loved....

May God Bless His Family as Well As The Group During Their Time Of Grief. Bug Will Be Greatly Missed. Frankie Will Never Find A Percussionist As Bad As The "Bug". Keep Your Heads and Spirits Up An Continue Making Great Music..
I am a huge Maze fan; I last saw Bug on August 6, 2011 in Dallas, TX., and I am grateful to have attended that show. Bug had a BIG smile on his face, and he appeared happy doing what he loved. At the end of the show I recall stopping to take them all in before they left the stage; thinking that it would be a whole year before I would see them again. Now, I know that -that moment meant much more. I will always remember Bug the way I saw him last-smiling...RIP, McKinley "Bug" Williams.

Thank you 'Bug' for the magic you gave to Maze - that I have passed on in sharing your music with two generations and more to come. Thanks for the difference you made in my life. May you rest in peace. To your family & friends I send my prayers and deepest condolences.
I've been blessed to witness the Maze phenomenon since the early 70s and the contributions "Bug" made to the sound and fury of this timeless band of brothers will live beyond his years on the planet. The great thing about being a gifted musician, which Mckinley "Bug" Williams most certainly ways, is the enduring shelf-life of THE MUSIC. He lives on through his incredible musical footprints....and for that we can all be thankful for his imprint on the music we continue to love.....forever.
To the family of McKinley "Bug" Williams sorry for your lost. May God bless and keep you during this time. To "Bug" get on the Percussion and keep that HAPPY FEELING IN THE AIR. REST IN PEACE "BUG"
My deepest sympathy to the Williams family. The group has lost a Brother, but he will remain in their heart forever. Frankie beverly always say bless your heart, I'm saying Bless His Soul. Peace unto his ashes.
Good Evening, I have been a "Faithful Fan" of Frankie Beverly & Maze for "Decades". I last had the Pleasure of seeing "Maze" perform in June ,2011 @ the Hampton Jazz Festival. What I enjoyed most about the Group was when "Bug" would set the Mood with his Percussion Sounds before Frankie would appear on Stage. To the Williams family & Frankie Beverly & Maze members; Remember the Good Times you shared together."Bug" will be Missed Greatly for his Music & Swagger .
Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

I met you late last year when you performed in North Carolina, you were a special special friend to our friend Pam, and we shared the exact same birthday. Our friend spoke to him often at least once or twice a week and would always ask about me and to tell me hi. I always knew him as a very nice guy, and I will miss him. God bless his family in this time of sorrow.
R.I.P my brother my dad your brother Arthur Braxton would like to see you up in heaven. you will be truley missed, for all the good music you have brought to us. go have fun with you father and my dad in heaven.
I have always been a Frankie Beverly & Maze fan. Every member of my family will look at me when any of Maze's songs come on, because they know how much I love you guys. My deepest heartfelt condolences go out to the Maze family...
The heavens have truly gained another Angel. McKinley Williams was an amazingly humble man with a warm smile, hearty laugh and a welcoming nature. He has touched a lot of lives by being a crucial part of the Maze band. For me it has been over a 35 year love affair with Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. How amazing his journey must have been, being able to do what he was passionate about and to travel the world spreading a message of love and happiness. Rest in peace. You will be missed but never far from my heart.
"Bug" was of the most gifted and soulful percussionist to ever grace a stage. he was the glue that held the Maze funk together. The reason people smiled when he took the stage was because they new he was going to lift up the gospel side of the Maze sound. When he played he made you snap your neck to the beat of his tambourine. Last time I saw them was when Toni Braxton was their opening act in Hampton Virginia. Much love "Bug", Michael Jackson must have needed a percussionist.
Rest in Peace. You will be missed.
When we walked into the Living Room that summer of 1970, we didn't realize that Raw Soul would become such a special part of our lives, Mac, is what we called him, such a sweet caring person. Thanks for the memories, you have been on Frankies's right side since then. Maze will go on but a very sweet and talented piece will be missing. God Bless and keep your family and Maze, (your extended family). Love to you always.
May God bless those who loved him. Me and my husband just went to the Frankie Beverly and Maze concert this saturday September 3 in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Williams and my father William Taylor are definitely smiling down on all of us. God Bless
I LOVE YOU and I'm so glad you knew that! I will miss seeing you bounce around on stage with that beautiful bright smile. If any comfort can be received in this, its knowing that you died doing exactly what you loved! I will remember you through MAZE music, tambourines and my windchime! The stage will be empty without you but I know the one you're on now is much bigger and has angels! Carry on Funkyman, carry on! I shall see you again......IN TIME!
Rest in peace "Bug"...you will truly be missed!!!
Bug, I will miss you on the percussion's that you loved so much. I was fortunate enough to meet you when my cousin Ron Smith a former member introduced me to you. Always so pleasant and smiling. Rest in peace and may God bless.
Mr. Williams, I am in shock, you are one of the men behind the group and where it is today. You will be truly missed and I thank you for the sweet sounds that you delivered in person and across the stereo. May you rest in peace...
I will Truly miss Bug I have so many fond memories of this Man I had the pleasure to even style his hair back in the day when he wore a cold wave. Many screams and many shouts and expressions of love when ever he would walk on stage he will be missed not standing not standing next to Frankie Beverly My condolence to his Family and the group. Shervonnne Barnes Warren, Washington DC.
Hey! Bug It's Peachie I thank God that he allowed my daughter and myself to drive to Atlantic City last year to spend time with you. You were so concern that she stay focus on things she suppose to do as a young teenager. You have never been to busy to call and check on me and the rest of the crew. And laugh at all the crazy stuff I would tell you. I will always remember your smile and your laugh, and honor our friendship. We go back a long way. May heaven smile on you forever.
Love You! Peachie
Rest in peace my black brother. I do remember you! Why because you rocked the 70s. Happy Feelings will now have a new meaning for me from this point on.

I am a huge Maze fan; I last saw Bug Aug. 6 in Dallas. He appeared happy doing what he loved. I remember stopping to take them all in at the end of the show; thinking I won't see them again until next year. Now I know that moment was about more than that... I am grateful that I attended as I will always remember the smile on his face. RIP, Bug! You will be missed.

Saddened to hear of the death of McKinley Williams. May God bless his soul. He helped to give us beautiful music which made us all happy.
May the family and friends find solace in those memories of “Bug”.
Mr. McKinley is now in the Golden Time Of Day. May the families, friends and fans be comforted in this. The greatest heart and soul expression band of all time shall live on forever in the music. God's peace and comfort to all.
My heartfelt sympathy to the Williams family and to the Maze family. Bug was such a kind person who always had a warm bright smile on & off the stage. Watching my favorite group of all time will never be the same without seeing him hitting those percussion instruments to the right of Frankie, but now he's claimed his musical place in heaven where he'll stand among others who went before him and play those chimes in the heavenly choir. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
August 19, 2011 Durham NC will always hold very special place in my heart. Another great performance by Frankie Beverly and Maze. Mckinley "Bug" Williams, as always, was awesome with his smooth background vocals and great percussion rhythms. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family. May you find peace and comfort during this time of sorrow and grief.
When we, Frankie's Angels heard that Bug had passed, it was just like hearing that a family member had passed on and we selfishly mourned because we didn't want to say "goodbye". Bug was so special to us and we loved him more than he will ever know, but God loved him best and so we had to let go and allow him to become a heavenly angel....so now he is free to spread his wings and fly...happy feelings in the sky ....with God. Now, we all have a new angel to watch over us. God bless all who feel the same feeling that we feel. On behalf of Frankie's Angels, we simply say, rest in peace, Bug.
I have been a fan of MAZE for over 30 years and have been to 14 concerts. I won tickets a couple of years ago by knowing who their percussionist was so "Junebug" was and will always be special to me. My heart and prayers go out to the Williams family and to the Maze family.
I can only ask that God grant's the Williams & Maze families "a peace that surpasses all understanding" during this difficult time. It is my hope and prayer that you will all cherish the good time you had with Mr McKinley. He will be missed by thousands of devoted Maze fans!
I was truly saddened today when I heard TJMS announce that Bugs had died, how shocking. I had the pleasure of attending the Maze concert recently in Newkirk, OK on August 26, it was a great show and we will party on in your memory. "Joy and Pain"
May the God of all comfort grant your family peace at this time. (2Cor. 1:4)
I would like to extend my deep sympathy and condolences to the family of Mckinley' Bug' Williams.
I first met Frankie Beverly and Maze back in 1976. I was the marketing/sales rep. for Capitol Records in Atlanta. Bob "Doughboy" Riley was the promotional man. I remember their first promotional trip to Atlanta. We visited radio stations and record stores.
Mckinley,Joe and Frankie were great friends and musicians. I predicted they would become music stars.
Rest in peace.
Good luck to Frankie Beverly and Maze.
Charles Douglas Edwards
So sorry to hear the news. I send my condolences from my family to the group and Mr. Williams family. I have been a die-heart Maze fan since the beginning of the group. I remember Frankie referring to him as "JuneBug" in the concerts. Debbie Hicks, Washington, DC.
May God strengthen all those who loved him and are mourning him.
To the W illiams and Maze family,May the memories of Bugs who you hold dear, be your strength today and throughout the days that follow.. You all have my heartfelt condolence.Phyllis Blazer- Buffalo New York
Sad, so sad, he was a kind sweet man who will be greatly missed standing over there to the left, quiet, smiling...gave me his tamborine from the stage while we were in Vegas last year, I was so stunned, how kind of him. God Bless His Soul and Strengthen his family, In Jesus Name, Amen
I truly experienced the "Joy and Pain" of life on Friday, September 2, 2011. First, going to Chattanooga for my birthday (on the 3rd) to spend the weekend, then found out Maze was in town and was treated to the show by my lady friend as part of my birthday gift. When we went to the box office we could hear the band doing their sound check (which sounded like they had started the concert 4 hours early). Then to hear Frankie announced during the show that Bug had passed was really sad. As life would have it, I was also in New Orleans at Essence in 2004 when Bug got sick on stage and also there a year later when he returned to the group. My prayers are with Bug's family and with Maze. Bug's life will be remembered with "Happy Feelings"!
My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead.
