I was not living in Macon when this tragedy occurred, so I was unaware of Mr. Solomon's death until a firefighter friend mentioned it to me today. I was moved to tears. Time passes and grief eases, but I know your hearts are still very broken without him. Nearly six years later, please know that your brave Steven is not forgotten. I am thankful for the devotion that firefighters bring to their line of work, and for the sacrifices they make every day so that we may be safe. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Memory can tell us only what we were, in company with those we loved; it cannot help us find out what each of us, alone, must now become. Yet, no person is really alone; those who live no more still echo within our thoughts and words, and what they did has become woven into what we are.

December 06, 2006
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Although we don't know you or your family, somehow we were touched by this young man who seemed to simply have been doing his job. Two years ago, I lost my boyfriend of 2 years and I can honestly tell there is a reason for God's work. Our continous prayers.

My Dearest Friend of AFR Class 06-03,
Thank you for being a part of my life and my family's lives. We enjoyed your stay at our home during recruit school. I miss that bounce in your step when you were feeling good and that crazy smile. I thank you for the text that you sent me several hours before your last call. Since I met you, I have witnessed every fight that you fought during school and until the end. I will always love you brother. Moreover, the rest of the "Black Shirts" of 06-03 love and miss you as well.

To Kennetha and your little ones, Steven was one of the best. He spoke highly of his family. He bragged about how you took him out on the town that weekend in Atlanta. He spoke of how beautiful you looked. He always spoke of the boys and that little girl he adored so much. Your Steven became my kid's Mr. Steven. He was truly a "WARRIOR", well respected and will be missed.

To Kennetha & Kids,
We both had the pleasure of knowing and working with Steve. He was one who always brought joy to the workplace. We are forever going to miss his smiling face and sweet demeanor. If there is ever a time you need us we are just a phone call away. We were so disheartened when we got the news. Just remember that whatever you are going through, God is still in control and He is going to continue to Bless you and your family. Look to Him for your help and strength. Our trips to Walmart are not going to be the same knowing that Steve won't be there waving us down! Cherish the memories and the time you had with him for it was so precious.

To Kennetha & the Solomon Family
I was in Atlanta visiting over the Thanksgiving holidays when I heard the report of a firefighter taken to the burn center of Grady Hosp. I did not realize at that time it was your husband until I heard his family from Macon had come up. I paid more attention then. I'm so sorry for you loss and pray that God will give you the comfort to get through this ordeal. I'm just a phone call away and feel free to call when you just want to talk. I love you and be strong.
December 01, 2006
To Thw Solomon Family,

I did not know Mr. Solomon, however, most heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to your family and friends at this time and ongoing times of need. Firefighting is a most difficult job, whereby a person has a calling to help those that are unable to help themselves. I have somewhat personal knowledge of what firefighters experience. They are strong, courageous, compassionate unique individuals of our society. The go into danger without any apprehension. We appreciate our fire fighters, police our service men and womens, and we should never forget them. We will not forget Steve Solomon.
December 01, 2006
To This Solomon Family:
Though I'm a member of a different set of Solomons (Our Reunion held every July 4th weekend for the last 63 years), I still embrace this family from afar, for we are connected through name and heritage. Surely he must have been a proud nobleman and father. Fear not, for his spirit dwells among you right now, so be strong and show love to fellow friends and family members, for him...as he takes your memories with him to the other side...to cherish...to know ...to love, until the time that you, reunite with him, on the other side!

November 30, 2006

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
November 30, 2006
Kennetha and Solomon Family,
May God be with you and your family. In the days ahead we pray peace and strength. In your down times remember what our Father above tells us: Philippians 4:8 "Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there be any praise think on these things." God's love to you and your family.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Mrs. Solomon & Children: My father was a fireman and now my son is. Even though I didn't know your loved one, I felt your sorrow. I cannot imagine what you must be going through now, but I know that our Lord can provide comfort when no one else can. My son spoke highly of Steven. I have been praying for him and your family since Thursday and will continue to do so. As sad as you must be, what comfort I know you and your children have in knowing what a powerful legacy your husband/their father left. I pray a hedge of protection over my son and all of our firefighters each day. When you don't know what to pray, know that others are lifting you up and providing intercessory prayer on your behalf. These prayers will help sustain you. God bless!

To the Wife and family members of Steven Solomon. I am very, very sorry to hear of the loss of this brave young man. His profession took courage and love for fellowman. I am sure that you and your family are very proud of him. God knows of your pain and sorrow right now.
In the Bible book of Revelation 21:3&4, God says, "that He will wipe our every tear from their eyes, death will be no more, neither mourning, nor outcry nor pain will be anymore...

Even in the Bible book of Job14:14 he asked, "If an able bodied man dies, can he live again? According to the Bible, the answer is yes. Jesus speaks of this resurrection in the Bible book of John 5:28&29. I hope that you and your family will gain comfort from these scriptures and from the love and strength of our Almight God.
November 29, 2006
God rest your soul. You were a brave fighter. God will take care of your family.

My beloved Brother, you are a Hero in the eyes of many. We thank you for all you did for us here on earth. .

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Our prayers for your family and friends

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
November 29, 2006
To the Solomon family earth has felt no sorrow that heaven can't heal. I cannot say I understand how you feel I can only say you have my sympathy. My husband is a firefighter here in Macon and he had the honor of working with your husband and he only had wonderful things to say about your husband. We don't know why things happen but understand that it is God's purpose and reason. We never know when they leave out of the house on the days they have to work if they will return or if we will receive that dreaded call we only can say a prayer and leave it in God's hand. I hope when you look back and read these condolences you will find comfort in your darkest hours.

There are three certainties of death and the third one says"There will be a joyous reunion then when we are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord." 1 Thessalonians 4:17

When facing death's shadow, remember the light; The shadows bring fear, and the dark shrouds our eys; But if we would turn to face Jesus the light, The shadow will fade as he brightens our skies.

To the Solomon family, God bless and keep you.

November 29, 2006
This was a very toughing story. I have been very saddened by this. My brother is a police officer, and I have learned from him that being a firefighter or a police officer are dangerous yet necessary occupations that help the needs of the people. Rather you are firefighter or police officer, when you die accomplishing your will in life, it’s always heart breaking. I will keep the family in my prayers and I will continue to pray that you all stay strong. I also want you to know that he is in a better place, with no more pain, sorrow, or heartache; is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The world has lost another great. I didn t know Mr. Solomon personally but I do know that firefighters are " an endangered species"; rare people who love people.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Keep as focused as you can on the memories and joyous times, for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavely on God, family, and Steven's fellow firefighters. We will all honor your fallen loved one, for his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

I am truly saddened over the loss of FF Solomon. Though our paths never crossed, I know he was brave and courageous to do what many will not. My ex-fiancee's father died on New Year's Eve almost 10 years ago battling a fire in Upstate N.Y.- as a volunteer firefighter. So I watched and prayed that that FF Solomon would make it through so the family wouldn't have to go through that tragic sense of loss. My heart and prayers go out to the family, and may they have peace in knowing that GOD will see them through. He was and always will be a true HERO.

God puts His guardian angels on this earth and He calls them firefighters!
These are the brave, noble, selfless men and women who are called upon to help the helpless and save lives.
They care about people --from the wealthiest to the poorest.
They serve 24/7.
And sometimes, God calls them home because they are His!
May God bless this wonderful firefighter hero who passed away in the line of duty!
May his dear soul rest in peace and know that the prayers of a nation, his fellow firefighters and those of us who admire their bravery, compassion, gallantry and courage are with his loved ones and the others in his department.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I had a little boy that died on Thanksgiving morning ten years ago. The Thanksgiving holiday has certainly taken on new meaning for me but I realized early in my grieving process that literally giving thanks for his life was the only way for me to ultimately heal. Losing a loved one on a day when everyone else seems to be celebrating is difficult and I will keep your family in my prayers as you learn to live without your beloved Steven here on earth.
November 29, 2006
I didnt have the pleasure to meet Steven but I two have been following this story. Thank GOD for allowing him to be a part of your life, remember the good times, stay close to the seeds that he was allowed to plant on this earth and know that GOD will make you strong in this time of need.
