Intelligent, funny, friendly, unassuming, super nice.... I could go on and on without overdoing it, for Bill was that kind of guy. So many stories could be told about Bill. Just a super, super nice man. How could anyone ever forget that smile and that greeting one always received! If you knew Bill, you would know what I am saying. If one didn't, they surely missed so much.

I am so sorry that we did not know until today [ oct 29th] Bill and I were friends and classmates at South West DeKalb. Little did we know at that time our careers would parallel in aviation [I would build and he would fly] We knew Bill was unique and destined to do special things. He will always be my Friend and I miss him already.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Dear Ann and Family,
Bill was such a warm and compassionate person. I am so sorry for your loss. He was so kind to take Jack to coffee with their friends until Jack was too weak to go. Those guys were like a family that cared for one another. Everyone thought the world of Bill, he will be truly missed.
Sincerely, Dorothy Shahan

Willie was as fine a pilot as I knew and was always ahead of the airplane. He was respected by all who had contact with him because of his aviation intelligence. Bill Ayton FAA

WeI met Willie via amateur radio and had the best of all opportunities to chat with him multiple times each day...as well as to enjoy coffee or a meal in DeKalb county. A great guy...cool, calm & collect; never contrary or a gossip....a peaceful, equitable man to all.
It was more than entertaining to hear Bill speak about his life with air craft, it was an education. For a man in command of so many lives for many, many years...he was both modest of his profession that took a little prodding to talk about as well as self effacing with humor; keenly aware of the feelings of other and very much devoted to his friends, family and associates.

Best of 73s to KA4VHM and our condolences to family and friends.

As a friend from both Silver Wings and EAA 690, Bill was both a good friend and one of the kindest and warmest guys I've ever known. He had a personality that invited you to be his friend and made you feel like you had been friends for many years.

I first met Bill in 1952 when we were classmates at Southwest Dekalb Highschool. In his senior year, Bill was voted as having the best personality in the class. From that time until his final resting place, I observed Bill to have much more than a good personality. He was a devoted family man of great character with a positive attitude and unyielding faith. We surely will miss him, but this earthly loss is Heaven's gain. Our hearts are with the Bussey family during this time of sorrow.
