What a sweet woman Lillian was. She had been sick for so very long but was a strong, courageous trooper through it all.

I always enjoyed our conversations. In her later years, she didn't get out much, but she held great conversations and didn't hold back with her thoughts about things. She could make you laugh.

Lillian basically 'launched' my national public speaking events when in the late '80s/early '90s she asked [i.e. made :-)] me speak to the Congressional Black Caucus Women & Spouses in DC, and it was a great experience, and to her I am grateful.

To the family, my prayers for your strength during this time of loss, but also remember and cherish the wonderful times and Lillian's strong support of her husband, son and social causes. Truly an era is passing.

Take your rest, Lillian; job well done.
