Dr. Staton was my first internist. Shortly after moving to Decatur, I noticed her new shingle across the street from me. There is no way I can express how much I loved her!
And now I find out that she was involved in the Civil Rights Movement and was internist of Coretta Scott King! How I wish I'd known that in the 60s, for I was also taking what part I could in that CR Movement, but our paths never met through the Movement -- I'd have loved to talk about that w/ her.
Another memory was years later, after she was retired, when my husband & I were traveling through Atlanta, & his hands broke out in small blisters. I called her, and she remembered me! -- and told she told us it was probably a sun allergy (despite whatever protection that windshield offered) & that he should drive w/ gloves!
What a really remarkable doctor AND woman AND human being!
She lives in my heart!

Dr. Jean and Dr. Ted were my doctors as a teen, I am now 64. I loved and respected them both. With deepest sympathy to the family. Jan
