Enjoyed the service today. What a great legacy left by coach DeVore. I never had him as a teacher but wound up as his assistant and babysat Dusty. He was a warm, kind person who molded so many young boys into good men. We will all miss you and look forward to reuniting with you in heaven.

All the best to Fayron and Dusty, thanks for sharing him!

I had the pleasure of attending one of his Social Studies classes at SWD and later the honor of playing baseball for him my senior year. I will never forget all the rocks we removed from his baseball field. He and my father cooked up the idea of selling Christmas Trees as a fund raiser for the baseball team. I'm sure all the guys on the team remember working that tree lot. I got to see John at some of our past SWD class reunions. He was always a pleasure to see and speak with. He was a great guy and will truly be missed. Our prayers go out to his family.

The Baseball World has lost a great treasure of a coach. John Devore was the best of the best as a Dekalb County Baseball Coach. John and I had many phone conversations over the years of coaching against one another. He always had something good to say about you and if you were down, he knew how to pick you back up! John had a lot of pride in his baseball teams, his baseball fields, and as a lot of folks knew he had great integrity. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Mrs. Devore, Dusty, and the entire Devore family. I know that as a coach's wife and a coach's son, there were a lot of sacrifices to be made over the years. Thank you for sharing John with all of us. I will truly miss him!

Coach had a fun class for Ga History - which says a lot since History was NOT my favorite subject! I graduated in '73 from SWD and saw him at the baseball Christmas tree sale several years later. He still remembered my name and made me feel special. The rest of the DeVore Family was blessed to have such a wonderful man as their relative!

Mrs Devore and Dusty I am sorry for your loss. The baseball world will miss one of the greats. I know I am one of many that were fortunate to have played for him and am a better person because of him.

He was a true inspiration, I knew him many years ago when I went to SWD. My prayers and thoughts to all family members.

What a great parent. His son Dusty was a student of mine.

Coach DeVore, you were a fine man. It was an honor to be instructed by you. We all will miss you, but will see you again one day.
