Kristen Hearne Obituary
She was married with a young son and had been with the Polk County police since 2012. Her husband, Matt Hearne, is a lieutenant with the Aragon Police Department in Polk County.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Victory Baptist Church, 15 Hendrix Road, Rockmart, followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Cedartown, according to an announcement from Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home. The family will receive well-wishers on Monday, October 2, 2017 from 3-9 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church.

Kristin Hearne set out to be a nurse, her mother said. She worked for a time in the oncology wing at Floyd Medical Center but had a hard time letting go of the bonds she formed with patients.
"She became involved in (the patients') lives," Brewer said. "I kept telling her, baby girl, these people are going to die. They're sick. She said 'Mama, I can't help it. I want to save them.' It became overwhelming to her."
Hearne decided on a career in law enforcement and found her niche. She quickly moved up the ladder, starting as a jailer in Floyd County before returning home to Polk, where she achieved the rank of detective.
"She felt like she was doing something important, that she was making a difference," said her husband, Matt Hearne, a lieutenant with the Aragon Police Department in Polk County.

It is with great sadness that I learned of the death of Detective Kristen Hearne. Nothing can match the sadness that Kristen's Husband, Son and Parents now feel. This is a loss not only to Kristen's family but to the Law Enforcement community, the residents of Polk County the State and Nation as a whole as evidenced by the Condolences that are coming in from all over the country.
