Around our house very little time goes by with out a Grizzard phrase or view of life. A true Southern gentleman.

Lewis was loved in the South! I never met him but, read most of his books and felt like he was kinfolk!
He is missed! Those who read his works have fond memories...

At thirty years old, I have had the distinct pleasure of growing up (this growing still continues) in the great state of Georgia. Not anything, other than my great family has had a greater impact on my growth and formation than Lewis Grizzard. My mother placed in my hands his columns and books from an early age and his sage wisdom and humor has carried with me since that first day. From being a Georgia fan, loving my good dogs, and moving around the country only to realize Georgia is home... You led me Mr. Grizzard and I will always appreciate that... I hope you and Catfish are happy where you are.

I can't believe it's been 10 years. Lewis was a true southern gentleman and a superb writer. He could make you laugh and cry with ease and not take ourselves so seriously. Thank you, Lewis, for sharing your wit with us. You made me proud to be a southerner. And, Go Dawgs!

We will all remember Lewis Grizzard and Catfish. May they both remain together for all eternity.

I especially enjoyed reading Lewis Grizzard's comments from Heaven when Dr. Adams refused to renew Coach Dooley's contract. Even from the beyond, he is telling it like it is! Love and miss you, Lewis!

I still miss Lewis. Every time some event occurs I smile and wonder what take Lewis would have on it, e.g., the current basketball hoopla at UGA and the Adams/Dooley flap. He'd definitely have a slant that would be entertaining, yet cut to the truth, in his inimitable style. He was an institution.

My 21 year old son recently picked up an old Grizzard paperback he found lying in my office. And there he discovered the wonderful satire and humor within those pages. I did not stop his commentary, even though I was well aquainted with his recounting. It was fresh again, for the first time. Me thinks we were, for a short time, visited by the ghost of Mark Twain.

Mr. Grizzard has touched my life as I'm sure he's touched many others. His wit and charm are unmatched by any writer I've ever read. I truly enjoyed reading his writings.
However, as I read the other entries, I was touched by others who are responding to this forum. I actually had to hold back tears. Yes indeed, thank you God for such people as Mr. Grizzard. A truly original Southern Gentleman!
