Nancy Eason Obituary

Nancy Eason, wife of former Cumming Police Chief Mike Eason, was killed Monday in an accident. A falling tree struck the car in which she was a passenger during heavy winds from Tropical Storm Irma.
Nancy Eason was a retired court reporter in the Forsyth and Cherokee judicial districts.
Mike Eason, now retired, was Cumming police chief from 2005 to 2009 and had a 31-year career with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. During the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, he served as state coordinator for thousands of visiting police from local, state and military departments. Mike Eason also directed state police at the 1988 Democratic National Convention in Atlanta and consulted for the Australian police before the 2000 Games in Sydney.
In a statement, the Cumming Police Department described Nancy Eason as "a wonderful lady with a kind giving heart and a friend to many."
"This is a huge loss to our community. Her family is in our thoughts and prayers."

I am a resident of Atlanta and lived through Hurricane Katrina. I was hurt to see that there were deaths associated with the recent natural disaster here with Irma. I can't begin to understand exactly how you feel, but I do find comfort in looking forward to the time when the world will fully benefit from God's protective rulership, when no human will be a victim to "time and unexpected events" (Ecclesiastes 9:11). May you find comfort in knowing that God has the ability to restore the life of Nancy, remembering every detail about her.

I'm sorry for your loss. I was one year ahead of you, Mike, at Sylvan and remember you from that time. I never knew your wife but volunteered with the ARC in Cherokee County for several years. I knew people who said that she was a very sweet lady. :-(

I met Nancy many years ago when I first became a Georgia court reporter. She referred me to one of my first court reporting jobs here in Georgia. I always remembered her and was grateful for the help she gave me. I am very saddened to hear of her passing. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

A special memory to share

In 2005, I was blessed with the opportunity with assisting Ms. Florrie Eason as a personal care assistant. During a visit I met Nancy, she was so kind and I remember her smile. I remember the newspaper article Ms. Florrie showed me with Mike's picture she was a very proud mother. Memories will help family and friends cope during this difficult time.
