My Decatur book club read Mrs. Parsons' book and she honored us by speaking to us at our meeting. She was amazing. At 97 she was funny and spunky. I am sure she was someone to reckon with on the school board. She left a lasting impression on all of us. I bought several more of her books to give to friends. In her home, she was very proud of the art she bought at the Piedmont Arts Festival. These sculpture paintings [not sure what to call them] were all made from cut up beer cans and very striking. She thought the artist was very clever. Thank you Sara for fighting for the rights of everyone and being such an inspiration to all of us.

My children went to the old R.L.Hope school on Piedmont in the '70s and Sarah Mitchell was our elected schoolboard representative. Not only was she accessible and helpful, but she was courageous in trying to get the schools integrated peacefully. I thought it a great compliment when Mayor Ivan Allen called her "one of the most dangerous women in Atlanta". She was my heroine, and I know her family is proud of her

Sara was a remarkable woman, high spirited all her days.
