My children went to the old R.L.Hope school on Piedmont in the '70s and Sarah Mitchell was our elected schoolboard representative. Not only was she accessible and helpful, but she was courageous in trying to get the schools integrated peacefully. I thought it a great compliment when Mayor Ivan Allen called her "one of the most dangerous women in Atlanta". She was my heroine, and I know her family is proud of her

Sara was a remarkable woman, high spirited all her days.

I heard Mrs. Parsons speak just a few years ago and then read her book. What a remarkable person and role model. Her family must be very proud of her.

While living in Bayside,CA. Sara and Tom were my next door neighbors for 18 years. I will miss her letters and sometimes we found time to telephone. I always saw them when they visited Humboldt. Rest in peace Sara and to the family, you are all in my prayers.
With much love,
Alice Flocchini, Bayside, Ca.

We were blessed to live across the street from Sara and Tom (on Black Fox Drive)for several years when we were newly married. Their kindness, generosity, and example of a loving, supportive marriage were priceless to us! She truly was an inspiration. We are thinking of your family, Ralph and Lynne Crabtree
