Family-Placed Death Notice

CRABTREE, Velma MRS. VELMA ANNE CRABTREE Mrs. Velma Anne Crabtree, residing at Magnolia Hills Retirement Center in Demorest, GA passed away on March 17, 2009, at her home at Magnolia Hills Retirement Center in Demorest, GA after an extended illness. She was 91 years old. She was predeceased by her husband Oscar (Ozzie) J. Crabtree, her daughter, Sylvia June Watkins Hunnicutt, brother, Willard Dobbs, sister, Louise Dobbs Fert and her oldest great grandson, Trey Wilson Cagle. She is survived by her two sons, Paul P. Watkins, Jr. (Milene) of Sautee, GA and John D. Watkins of Lawrenceville, GA. She had 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mrs. Crabtree worked for Rich's Downtown and South Dekalb Mall for 35 years. Prior to her present home at Magnolia Hills, she lived at Habersham Terraces with her little dog, Rainey. Rainey was very popular with all the staff and made frequent visits with the other residents. Prior to this, she resided at her home in Gainesville, Ga. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00pm Friday March 20 in the Wards Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Chris Shurtz will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial may be made to Northeast Georgia Hospice, 2150 Limestone Pkwy, Suite 115, Gainesville, GA 30501 770-533-8888 or Habitat for Humanity of NE Georgia, 2380 Murphy Blvd, Gainesville, GA 30501, 706-754-5313. Wards Funeral Home, 758 Main Street S.W. Gainesville, GA 30501 in charge of arrangements.

Grandma Crabtree,

I will miss you very much. You will always be in my heart and soul. I'll always remember us coming to your house and having those pool party's and cookouts. Miss you, and your fine cooking.
