With deepest condolences to the Ashmore family during your time of grief...God is for you a refuge and strength, A help that is there to be found during difficult times...May God provide you with peace and comfort to endure the days ahead...(Psalm 5:1).

I had the pleasure of meeting Walter and Jack Ashmore at a time that might well have made lesser men difficult and combative, the refinancing of their business interests in Atlanta and on St. Simon's. Walter correctly estimated the value of the property directly behind the King & Prince for future development when many, if not all, other experts held different views. He was correct and proven so fairly quickly. Unlike many successful developers I have known, Walter was always a gentleman in his dealings with competitors and even their lawyers, like me.He was always willing to share his substantial knowledge of Georgia's "Golden Isles"with those who wished to learn. He was, and was rightly known as, one of Atlanta's finest business leaders.A true visionary with rare talent, he lived long enough to see his predictions proven accurate. His family can take pride, and perhaps some solace, in visiting the island he did so much to preserve before others fully realized the potential that could be achieved. We should all be thankful and grateful for his foresight.
