Oh My Gosh! I was searching for my other friend who pasted away just recently and I couldn't believe my eyes, when I saw Charlie's picture here! I am so shocked to know that Charlie is not with us anymore ;-(
Met Charlie because of my father, Norman Wilson, who was also very much involved with the Auburn Joss House with Charlie in the late 1990's, early 2000's. All I can say is WHAT A GUY Charlie was, he was so fun to have around, his caring ways, his knowledge with history and doing all he could to help others. He will be very much missed by all of us who knew Charlie, I am so glad that I met him for the few years I knew and saw him. Roz, you were his soulmate, and vice versa, that was so easy to see.

Charlie, you were my handyman and listening ear during a difficult time in my life 27 yr. ago & I will never forget you.

Charlie had a way of making you feel like everything you had to say was special, he was one of the kindest, warmest people I have ever known. I am so grateful to he and Roz for offering me their gift of friendship. Their love for each other was heartwarming to observe. He was a man of honor and courage and I will miss him, we are all better people for knowing he and Roz. Sending you a hug Roz.

I remember the few times I met Charlie and what a delight he was. Mostly, I remember the glow I saw in Roz since he came into her life. Rest in peace, Charlie. Love to you, Roz and family.

What a privilege to have known Charlie and to have shared his last days with him and Roz! Who will we have to call now and ask what kind of trees we're seeing when we're on our road trips? Who will we have to explain in such vivid details so much of the history of California and of building the railroads? Who will we have to just laugh with and watch movies and watch "do'ng-do'ng" and eat cheese sandwiches with pepper and peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches and cookies? Charlie made the simple things in life special -- very special -- just because of who he was. That impish gleam in his eyes will shine in my memory forever.
