Fredric Pitz Obituary

Fredric William Pitz, age 71, entered into rest after a long battle with cancer on Friday, November 23, 2012 surrounded by loved ones at his home in Colfax, California. Fred was born in Nevada City, Calif. to Lillian and Fritz Pitz, their only child, and moved to Colfax at the age of seven where he lived the rest of his life. Fred attended Colfax Elementary then moved on to Placer High School where he graduated in 1958. After graduation Fred proudly served in the United States Air Force as a cargo payload specialist before being called home to care for his ailing father and run the family business, The Stagi Bakery in Colfax. After the sale of Stagi Bakery, Fred started a long career with the Placer County Sheriff Department. He served in the department for 28 years as a deputy sheriff, and for many years as a bailiff. Fred served dutifully and especially liked working with numerous county judges in the historic Placer County Courthouse of Auburn.
Fred married the love of his entire life, Junie Rotramel in Roseville, Calif., in 1963. They moved to Colfax and have been lifelong residents of Colfax ever since. Fred was a member of the Illinoistown Masonic Lodge #51. He treasured his time with his many close friends and as a member of the Colfax Fireball Softball Club where he excelled on the field which culminated with his induction to the Colfax Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame. His interests included fast cars and four wheel drive jeeps, watching his sons and grand kids play sports, traveling, and especially enjoying time during the holidays with his family and friends.
Fred is survived by: his loving wife Junie, his two sons Mike (Lisa) and Tim (Niccole); his four grandchildren Brendan, Taylor, Brooklynn, and Riley.
We will greatly miss Fred's easy demeanor, sense of humor, and dedication to family and friends. A memorial service will be held December 5, his birthday, 2012 at Lassilla's Funeral Home in Auburn Calif., at 2:00 p.m. A reception will be held immediately after at the Sierra Vista Community Center in Colfax. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vitas Hospice Care of Sacramento, California.
