When I was first hired in the Placer Hills School District, I shared a contract with Helen. We had a wonderful time teaching together, and I will really miss her!

I was saddened to hear of Helen's passing this week. Although I hadn't had any contact with her in many years I often thought of both her and Bill and what great and caring friends they both were to my family. They were always there to offer their help and support whenever needed without needing to be asked. I feel blessed to have known them both and to have benefited from their caring and kindness on many occasions. I will continue to think of them often.

Dear family and friends of Mrs. Helen Francis, I read today about the passing of this wonderful teacher. I got to know Helen for just a few years. I met her 28 years ago when I was hired on as a Kindergarten teacher at Placer Hills School. I taught in room 1 with Mrs. Rhoda Martin. Helen always stopped in the hallway to ask me how I was doing. She really - really meant it and cared. She always looked me in the eyes and was so kind. She went to the same church that I was married at... and we became fast friends. She always had wonderful art and writings up on her walls, and every week I had to stop and go and see her latest and greatest artists. I learned a TON from Helen. Then, we built Sierra Hills school and she donated a beautiful blooming tree when Bill passed away. It is still outside of room 18 now. I stop my class of kindergartners still every time it blooms in the spring, and make sure my students know that blossoms/flowers do not last very long. "They all need to stop and smell the flowers" before they fall away. (Kind of like real LIFE huh....) Well, my heart goes out to all of you at this very hard time. Helen is very proud of all of you. She is watching all of us from the clouds with Bill up in Heaven. yup...I really do believe that. Now - I am still teaching kindergarten at Sierra Hills school in Meadow Vista. I've only taught for 28 years and plan on teaching for about 10 more. I love teaching. Because of wonderful teachers like Helen - I love it still. Please feel to call if there is anything I can do to help any of you. Love and hugs always, Ms. Kathy Sindel
