Christina, You and the kids are in our prayers every single day. We just learned about what happened... we are just devastated for everyone. We send our love and prayers... I just don't have your address... I wish I could send something.. You remain in our hearts, as does he.

I met Benny on the Pacific Partnership mission. He was the first person I met and he greeted me with the warmest smile that day and every day after that. I am deeply saddened that the world has lost such a good man. My condolences to his family.

Rest in Peace, Benny. You will be missed, my friend. I count it as one of the greatest privileges in my life to have known you. My heart is heavy as I grieve and struggle to understand this inexplicable tragedy and I pray that you have found peace.

To Benny's wife and children, and the rest of his family, I thank you for sharing Benny with us. My life and the lives of so many others were enriched by his presence and the world is a lesser place because he is gone.

The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.

Benny, you were so generous with your time and made a difference to all the partner nations on PP16. As the sole kiwi on Mercy it was you who helped me adjust and made me laugh - and introduced me to the worst movies every night in San Diego. Thanks for the wonderful memories and profoundly sad that there won't be more.
Christina, Benny spoke of you, Liam and Grace with so much love - my heart goes out to you all. I hope we get to meet one day and will provide my contact details via email.

Mrs Romero and family,

It was such a privilege and honour to serve with Major Romero. I only knew him a short time but was privileged to call him a colleague and buddy. He looked after me, and so many others, from the very first moment I met him in Hawaii.

Always there to help, solve a problem, and to step up to assist. This photo captures the essence of Benny. I will hold the fondest memories of him forever.

My deepest condolences to you all at this difficult time.

Benny, As an honorary Australian, a friend to all, a mentor to many and the provider of a smile on the darkest days, you did us all proud. The memories that Team Australia have are endless. We collectively offer our sincere condolences to Christine, the children, and Benny's extended family. In the words of Laurence Binyon:
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn At the going down of the sun and in the morning - We will remember them.
