Melanie-This from Joe Caldwell, JD, RN. You may remember me as GI Joe. I took care of your Dad at Trinity. I got back from my few days off, and got the details of those final moments.
My heart breaks for you. He was a great guy, and you as well a great daughter. He knew you were with him throughout this ordeal, and no father could want anything more from his precious daughter than you gave. You'll see him again in heaven when it's your time, and make no mistake, your caring love ushered him through his time.
I know how hard it was for you, knowing medically what was happening but handing over care to others. You were great!
I realize that this is small solace in your time of grief, but please know that you are one of his best creations, and continue to celebrate that fact as you mark time till you guys get together again.
It was my great honor to care for him as well as you through some of the more trying moments of his and your final challenge, and I hope my efforts and empathy were some comfort.
Thank you both.
I am so, so sorry.
