Mrs. Westbrook was one of my favorite teachers, at Lucy C. Laney High School. She was my Art teacher. She was a phenomenal woman. I offer my heartfelt prayer of condolence to her family.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Westbrook family for Mrs. Alpha Westbrook was a very kind, soft spoken woman, with a warm, caring heart & a pleasant smile. I remember her from Lucy C. Laney High School, always trying to help someone out or give an encouraging word. She was loved and will be greatly missed, not only by her family but, by many other lives that she touched. May God continue to bless & keep you in His care is my continued prayer for you.

A Living Legend indeed!

"Mother Westbrook", as I've always known her, for over 30 years is a woman whose living has always appeared to be one of good and Godly character. I can safely say that she is one who's personal and professional character I would love to model. From encouraging me to recite my lines in a program when I was extremely shy and petrified to get in front of others to paying attention in her Sunday school class back in the BJ Williams bldg. & correctly completing the weekly commentary... I'll never forget about ten years or so ago Mother Westbrook jumping rope (turning the ropes herself) during an annual church picnic! What an amazing woman! I've had the blessed advantage of interviewing and observing Mother in a way that others weren't privy. She was ALWAYS soft spoken and kind. I've never heard her speak negatively about anyone. Mother Westbrook was the epitome of a studious teacher! Even til her last moments always faithfully seeking His face. She was more often seen in a class than not. And the thing that perplexes me the most is that even at 100 years (May '16) she would always say there is so much she has to learn! If I who has only lived a mere fraction of her time and have a morsel of her accomplishments; then I must get busy. We will miss your internal and external beauty Mother Westbrook. Rest peacefully. You left a huge torch for us to carry.
May Our Lord and Savior continue to wrap His loving arms around the family.(Aunt Margaret, Ma Bren, Dennis, Rod, Phil, & Mavis and all the kids) We love you and you are not alone.

Mother Westbrook was a rare precious jewel, we will greatly miss her smile, her encouraging words to me and my family, she was a testimony of God's Glory and what it is to live for God. She was always giving God his Glory for what He has done in her life.

To the family of Mrs. Alpha Westbrook:
I have known of Mrs. Westbrook for years, and lately got to know her better in Bible Study at Broadway Baptist Church.
Thank you Mrs. Westbrook for your leadership as a faithful woman of GOD. GOD is pleased with the way you have helped to lead others to HIM. Those of us who love you will miss your physical presence but will keep your spirit with us continuously. May GOD continue to keep your family, extended family, friends, church family, community, and mentees in peace at this sad time. Thank YOU LORD for the life of Mrs. Alpha Westbrook. The world is a better place because of her powerful ministry and legacy. -----Myriam B. Van Buren (Ron)
