Martha Haddlesay Hardy, 94, wife of the late Oscar K. Hardy entered into rest Monday, March 5, 2018. Born in Atlanta, GA, Martha moved to Augusta at age two. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A graduate of Tubman High School, Martha became a bookkeeper for several plumbing and heating contractors, retiring from Gold Mech, Inc. A longtime member of First Baptist Church, she was part of the Anna Bannister Sunday School Class and sang with the First Family Singers.
Other interests included membership in the Holiday Ramblers and the Augusta Boating Club. Martha had served as pianist for the George Walton Eastern Star Auxiliary and enjoyed playing piano from memory while a resident of Camellia Walk.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Albert S. Haddlesay and Beulah J. Haddlesay, and one sister, Dorothy H. Martin (Ernest). She is survived by her three children, Albert Hardy (Jackie), Martha Odom (Ernest), and Joseph Hardy (Camille); her seven grandchildren, Steve Hardy (Lisa) of Lilburn, GA, Angela Welch (Earl) of North Augusta, Ashley Odom (Shawn) of Evans, Rachel Morris (Dean) of Appling, John Hardy (Rhonda) of North Augusta, Knox Hardy (Katie) of Martinez, and Laura Mellon (Charles) of Seattle, WA; sixteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Emmie Dent for all the years she so faithfully took care of our mother, Regency Hospice for their care and compassion during her illness, and Camellia Walk Assisted Living employees for their faithful, loving care.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Will Dyer and Mrs. Patti Fowler officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Augusta, Debt Retirement Fund, 3500 Walton Way Ext, Augusta, GA 30909.
