We got lost going to a gig one night by taking a short cut. It was my idea and I had to take a hit for it over and over. We made the gig about an hour late, but after that Mickey always called me compass. He even added it to a CCR song we did. He was one of a kind and a true friend.
Mr. Hand was one of the only teachers who could make history interesting to me.I still remember stories he told about our presidents that were not in our history books. He taught us a memory trick to remember the Constitutional amendments-and I still remember them by number 40 years later! He brought his guitar occasionally - I remember him playing "Bad Moon Rising". I know the family is sad to lose such a special man. Please know that he played an important role in many lives through his teaching.
Mickey was a close friend as we grew up playing basketball at Tubman and Richmond. I enjoyed seeing him and Mary at our 50th Class Reunion in 2008 where he presided over it as Class President.
Mary, Frankie and I think of you often. May God bless you and your family...................Tommy Stone.
Mickey was a man's man. A great musician who offered me his bass job with the Celestials in 1962. He was a great person and will be missed by all his friends and former band members Rest In Peace Bobby Byrd
