Some called him Ashby but we at Yancey called him John. John hired me in 1973, I was 25, John was 49. Some years later I went into management and John was my mentor and remained my mentor my whole career at Yancey. John picked up on the fact that I talked too much and one day in his office he said "Bill do you know why God gave you two ears and one mouth?" I sat there for a long moment and looked into his eyes and said, "yes sir I think I do!" I have tried to live by that guiding principal since that day. Thank you John, my mentor.
My condolences to the entire family

To the Taylor family,
I was so sorry to hear of Ashby's passing. He was great friend for over 30 years and a "senior" advisor to me while I was President at Druid Hills Golf Club. I played many rounds with him in the 80's and 90's and always valued his input. He is one of those people that helped create the culture at Druid Hills and will be missed. All of you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the pleasure of working for Mr. Taylor at Yancey Bros. Co. during his time as General Sales Manager. He was a mentor, and always very professional. Always a gentleman, he represented the company well and was a pleasure to work for. He had a pleasant demeanor and was well respected by his staff and customers alike. My condolences to his family and friends in their time of grief.

May the God of all comfort strengthen the family during this time of deep sorrow. Those who pass on, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. My sincerest condolences.
