So sorry to hear of John's passing. I got to know him as a student at MO State in the early 70's. A very nice and kind person, a person with a tremendous amount of knowledge. I am very sad that it has been many years since we got together.

This is the only photo I have of my parents visiting in Waynesboro in 1955. But I have such wonderful memories of John and his family. The Walkers were dear and lifelong friends of my grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chandler Wimberly. I grew up in Virginia but we visited John's sweet grandmother, Miss Louise, at her beautiful home "Shadows" each and every time our family would drive down to Waynesboro and I remember peals of laughter from my parents and John's Aunt Louise and Uncle Pete whenever they were together. John kept up with my folks visiting them and checking on them wherever they were over the years, in Virginia, here in Missouri, in Texas, and even in Alaska. My mother is 96 and living in Virginia and I haven't yet had the heart to tell her of John's passing. But we will weep. Rest in Peace, John.

Rest in Peace and Nature, John. You more than earned it with your place in the Nature you loved, works you created that spoke both in intelligence and wisdom with a depth of insight and wit that was to be found in every corner of your vision. YOU showed us how. We will always remember, thank you, and love you for it.
