Kate became a wonderful friend during the years she worked with us at Handmade Frames. I never knew anyone more committed to excellence. Kate was fierce in protecting the quality of her work, and never made an uncared about move. She rose to become our master hinger, which is the process most requiring art of the practitioner in the framing process, only because the artwork is always at risk during hinging. Of course, she would have gravitated toward this. After she left our workshop, she gave me a series of private lessons in T'ai Chi. She was gentle, and yet able gracefully to push me to reach for more. I think our relationship, where she was the teacher, and I the student, was the more appropriate. Kate would practice on the roof during breaks, when still a team member here. She was a true model to me in many ways- and taught me many valuable things. I am the others here who knew her miss her very much.

We'll meet again some day on the avenue. Until then, shine on.

Prayers lifted for Kate and her family

My sincere condolences to all of Kate's friends and family. I was a classmate at Aquinas and even at that age it was apparent that she was a lovely soul. She will be missed by all that knew her.

To Ed Fuqua and Kate's Family,
I pray that The God Of All Comfort will bring you peace in knowing that He is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. May the comfort of The Holy Spirit keep you all.
