Neal Walter Baker 67, entered into rest on Thursday January 11, 2018 at his residence. Neal was a devoted and loving husband, father and granddaddy. Funeral services will be held 1PM Monday January 15, 2018 at Poteet Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Wesley Weatherford officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Wayne Culbreth, Johnny Hayes, Dan Kitchens, Greg Watts, Tony Culbreth and Casey Patterson. Mr. Baker retired from International Paper after 39 years of service; he was the ultimate Elvis fan and NASCAR enthusiast. Survivors include his wife Gloria Jean Baker; daughters Melinda Baker Patterson and Pamela Baker Key (Robert Lynch); step-son Dedric (Carmen) Badua; step-daughter Brandy (Brandon Redfern) Badua; brother Jimmy (Wanda) Baker; five grandchildren Savannah, Casey, Wyatt, Alysia and Matthew; his four-legged companions and children Moose and Buddy. He was preceded in death by his parents Ware and Mary Baker and a brother Wayne Baker. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 PM on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.

Neal was like a brother to me he and spent more time together when I was coming than he and my sister. Neal was a great friend had many great times I will never forget. We parted ways for awhile but was never out of my mind. I will never forget him and will always love him for the part he played in my life.
