BEECH ISLAND, S.C. - Mr. Trughvan L. Usry, a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, departed this earth to be welcomed into heaven by his Lord and Saviour, Saturday, December 6, 2014. Funeral Services will be held this Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 1 o'clock at Clearwater First Baptist Church. Rev. John Bolin officiating. Interment in Sunset Memory Gardens. Born in Avera, GA, Mr. Usry was the youngest son of the late Samuel Lewis Usry and Marie Williams Usry. He was a 1953 graduate of Langley-Bath-Clearwater High School and would talk to anyone who would listen about his enjoyment of baseball, track and especially football. The trip to Camp Playmor, organized by his hero and mentor Coach Billy Seigler, was an oft repeated story of his high school football memories. He frequently spoke fondly of the many friend with whom he attended school as well as fellow workers at DuPont and Westinghouse. He retired in September 1993 after 40 years at the Savannah River Plant. Mr. Usry was preceded in death by his brother Charles Lemuel Usry. He loved his Lord and never hesitated to witness to the saving grace he himself had experienced. He had the privilege of leading his brother Lemuel to the Lord in 2000 before Lemuel's death in 2001. Over the years, Mr. Usry served as a trustee, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School director and was an active and faithful member of Clearwater First Baptist Church where he served as deacon until his illness. Survivors include his wife Kay Reynolds Usry, Beech Island, SC; a daughter and son-in-law, Tonja and Christopher Rivers, North Augusta, SC; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Jennifer Usry, Waxhaw, NC; four grandsons, Rion and Jackson Rivers, North Augusta, Tucker and Cameron Usry, Waxhaw. A Special Thanks to his caregivers Bert, Connie, Craig, Susan, Tamara and Tarisha who showed immense love and compassion during his extended illness. The family would also like to express appreciation to Alliance Hospice, especially Nurse Rhonda Hall, Social Worker Danny Moran and Chaplain Laverne Harris. These individuals went above and beyond their required responsibilities.
