Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet prince;
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. ... An Augusta College English major wishes the family of Dr. Johnson peace in the months ahead.

My sincere condolences. Dr Johnson was a great teacher, the best Chairman, and a good man.

I entered Augusta College in 1969 as a math major. On my first course with Dr. Johnson, English 101, I quickly changed my mind. I immediately secured him as my advisor. He taught me so much about life, writing, and literature, especially Shakespeare. He was simply fabulous! I went on to be a an English teacher and chair of a dept. or two. I developed AP courses for 3 high schools; and every book, poem, and play I put on a syllabus I thought of Dr Johnson. He will live on all in all of my students because I told all of them about him. He will be sorely missed. May his soul rest in peace. May his memory be eternal. (He is the only person ever allowed to call me by my full name).

Dr. Johnson was an avid hiker, opera lover and good friend to public radio.

In the Fall of 1968, I was an entering freshman at Augusta College. Dr. Johnson was my English professor. How I enjoyed his class; I learned much about writing and about literature, but mostly I learned a valuable life lesson: ask questions and seek help, especially when you are a bewildered freshman college student. Over my career as a high school history teacher and a university professor of history, I have told the story of Dr. Johnson's influence on my life. For that I am forever grateful. Rest in peace Dr. Johnson.

One of my favorite teachers and fellow opera-lover.
