I first met Dexter as a freshman in high school. He was not only one of my favorites but was really liked by all. I never heard anyone say something disparaging about him.

We were a Catholic All Boys Military High School. Although Dexter did not attain "officer rank," there was no doubt that he was a true leader in our class.

But more than that you knew his love of God and spirituality even back then. He was an excellent athlete, especially basketball, and was a team leader on a very good team.

I only saw Dexter maybe two times after graduation but kept up with his whereabouts and workings through our alumni publication.

And although from a distance, I have admired Dexter for 50 years. I am glad that he has been part of my life. I will miss him. Someday I hope to be reunited with him in God's kingdom.

My deepest condolences and sympathy to his family and to his congregation.
