My grandma meant the world to me.When I was in high school she sewed me a new tennis skirt every tournament, we would go and pick out the fabric together, and she would stay up late sewing away. She also made cookies for my whole tennis team. She made me feel so special. During my college days, she sent me homemade chocolate chip cookies, and sent me flannel nightgowns in UT colors. When I began teaching, she made me an Indian costume and sewed bean bags for my classroom. When I got married, coupons flooded my mailbox and tons of letters thanking my husband for his service. Our favorite thing she made is our Christmas tree skirt. In February, I flew my daughters to my parents home in South Texas, and surprised everyone. She played uno and laughed with her 4 great granddaughters. We ate the best Mexican food and soaked up family time. This is the memory I'll carry forever. Even though we had lived miles apart, we felt very close despite the miles. She made every moment count, kept us up to date with family, taught us about nature, the old times, and really about life. When times are tough, I often think of her life and how she managed through the years. Grandma- you will be missed by so many, you are loved by so many and when I think of you- you will never be gone because our memories live on. I love you forever. Gertrude was an amazing woman. Kent, Mark and Louise, I am so sorry for your loss. Lisa, Lori, Kathy, Emily and Ben, you were blessed to have an incredible grandma. I have great memories of times spent with her and trips taken with her, she had quite a sense of humor!

Dear Aunt Gertie. What a gal. She was fun loving and great fun to be with. I think all of the pics I have of her she is smiling. I will always remember picnics at the cemetery on Memorial Day, stopping by to chat and have donuts on the way home from visiting grandparents in Sandwich, meeting up with her at the Fair, and so much more. Most lasting memory was having dinner with her and Uncle Charlie with my mother, Verna (when she was sick) and my sister Deb. We all ate dinner and it was time for the special dessert she made for all of us. To be fair, my Mother was quite ill at the time and not able to eat much, Deb had her daughter Sara with her and was feeding her in another room when dessert was placed on the table - a brand new recipe--Rhubarb Pizza! I didn't know what to do, I was the only guest that was able to eat dessert at that time, so I bit the bullet and somehow managed to get down a slice. I hate rhubarb. Good ol' Aunt Gertie, she never forgot how I had eaten the dessert and assumed I liked Rhubarb. You can be sure every year when the rhubarb was ready - she was asking me if I would like some. She never forgot anything. I will miss her, but what a woman and what a life. RIP. Enjoy your time in heaven. love, your niece, Linda
