I knew Bill at the Naval Academy. He was my "big brother" or something, my mentor from the class of 1959 to a plebe (freshman) in the class of 1962. He was a fine mentor and I regret I never saw him again after he left the Academy.

I am an Academy classmate of Bill's and although we never met I want to add my condolences. With 55 years passing since graduation there are men you remember but since they were not in your company you don't remember why. Bill was in that category for me but I remember him with fondness. May God sustain you during the coming days and always.

Bill jr. And all the Assell family who dearly loved my Uncle Bill as I fondly called him. .....
I wanted to share a few wonderful memories I have of my Uncle Bill..... It's hard for me to land on just one..... Over the past several years he and I spent quite a bit of time visiting in person and also by text, ( as you know, he was an avid "texter") the I phone intrigued him. He sent me pictures and family heritage stories frequently, which I loved and shared with my kids and grand kids . I loved the way he shared all the family stories with us ,with a heart full of love and pride for The Assell Family Heritage. He would tell us every detail with such enthusiasm and attention to the details of his parents and even their parents stories as they were told to him; life stories of our parents lives from his point of view. He made sure that each of us knew The Assell Family history that he was so proud to be a part of. I now feel responsible to continue this family sharing legacy with my children and grandchildren. It helps me to know that Uncle Bill is just a prayer away. My belief is that he and Aunt Marlene, along with his mom and dad and brother, my dad, Ron and his sister, Joyce, along with all of our ancestors are in Gods heavenly Kingdom praying for all of us! I thank God for the life of William Lee Assell, my Uncle . He made me a Better human being . Thanks be to God for allowing our lives to intersect.

Uncle Bill was like a second father to me.I have many great memories of sitting around a picnic table listening to him tell stories about our family espically the early years when when they were all growing up. I never got tired of hearng his stories. I love you Uncle Bill. I know you all are together again at peace smiling while looking down at all of us from heaven.
