Hello,
We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Alvin A. Boatwright US Army Sergeant 1st Class.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Hey SP4 Boatwright (2001)! You're going to be greatly missed. Man, that was a tight squeeze in that 577 at NTC Apr-May2001 (all 5 of us). Your exceptional sense of humor made that Capstone Exercise so much more bearable (1-67 AR, 4th ID). I still remember the hard time you gave this dumb medical officer when I put my pro-mask on over my helmet liner and continued to suck in the OC's CS gas attack choking and gagging. You were one of a kind. Cheers to you Alvin, still out on patrol for our country. Thank you for your service. I toast you with a tall cold glass of hefe-weizen! Rest in Peace my friend.

I will never forget the day we first met in those ragedy barracks at Ft. Hood Bldg 9211. I thought that you had to be the craziest guy that I had come across there so far, but we became fast friends and companions. You were among the closest of friends that I had while I was at Ft. Hood. I will always remember you as the big brother that would keep me in line and spend all day lounging on the couch listening to us try to make music. I love you bro and I hope to see you on the other side. To the family stay close to the father in these times He will definitely provide strength to endure. Sleep well big brother.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Sgt1c. Alvin A. Boatwright our Brother-in-Arms . To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Alvin. And to Alvin it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Alvin, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,307 military Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Alvin’s family and loved ones.

This will be a bitter sweet week as I welcome my husband home from Afghanistan and we mourn a soldier and friend. The Army has suffered a great loss in a NCO, leader, tanker and mentor. His laugh, smile, advice and vigorous debates will always be missed. There are no words that can relieve the pain of his family or express how we feel. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, relatives and friends. Like others, his spirit will always flourish in the hearts of his family at C Co. 1/67
