A few years back, I got in touch with Miss Griffee, and we had a delightful chat. I'm so glad that I had that opportunity because she said that she wasn't feeling too good.

Miss Griffee was the best teacher that I had in high school--both my junior and senior years (1978-80). I am an English teacher today in part because of her unyielding devotion to her profession. I hope that I am half as fervid to my students today as Miss Griffee was to me during a magical time in my life. So long, Miss Griffee. I will always remember the good times in your classroom. Carolyn not only taught us English but watched over us and was a good colleague and friend of my dad Lester Dykman. I have always appreciated her friendship.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Miss Griffee was my High School English teacher and as much as I hated English, I loved the way she taught it. She made it where I actually understood it. Over the years she has many students and all of us will miss her greatly. I will find comfort in knowing she is in Heaven with my Grandma getting her hair done. My grandma was her beautician. RIP Miss Griffee.

Miss Griffee was a 'constant' at BHS. I had her for three years in English and advanced comp. Also, she had me for an actor in her annual school plays. I did do a bit of 'acting up' in my senior year and with regrets, but nothing big enough to harbor resentments. Too bad I wasn't more mature. She was one of the 'Very Good Ones'. Mark Dabbs
