I just found out about Dr. Veronda's passing. I am so sad to hear the news. I was a student at PC in the early 70's where Carlo turned me into a real musician and provided many valuable life lessons. Later, I was able to keep in contact with him through ABODA and his work at Camp Pacific. I will never forget the night he took on four Marines in Carlsbad, CA! That's Carlo! I enjoyed meeting him for lunch at Miracle Mile in the 90's and catching up. Sadly, I had lost touch over the years - and I was just thinking of him a few weeks ago. Dr. Veronda was an inspiration to thousands, and his wonderful work will continue through all the lives he touched.

So very sorry to hear of Carlo's passing. He was and is family to me. I fondly remember growing up with Juan and Angie, and the many hours spent with our families together. I played violin in Symphonettes, Youth Orchestra, and the Phoenix Community College Orchestra with him as conductor. He was there when I played my first solo with an orchestra, and was so very caring and supportive. He was an exceptional musical talent, and his love of music complete. My parents had tremendous love and admiration for him, and my sister and I carry that forward. I know heaven is a better place with you and your music there Carlo. Rest well. My love and support to Sylvia, Juan and Angie as you grieve and move through this process. I know you will hold dear memories close.

I met Carlo Veronda when I was attending Phoenix College. I took three classes that he presided over, masterfully. He was a dear, lovely man. I send my condolences to his family. He was one of the greatest people that I have ever encountered.

Dr. Veronda was one of the great clarinet performers. I'm a trumpet and violin player, but I remember woodwind players came from all over to study with him (recall those rubber bands on the clarinet mouthpiece!). We toured Mexico and California with the PC Jazz Band and he was always so full of musical joy. He always gave students his complete attention and was always such a positive influence! A wonderful artist.
