Wow, I can't believe what I'm seeing.
My name is Ira Andelman, I was good friends with Eric as a teenager and we went to Mill Road Day camp together in NJ. I remember him as a tall fun friend, we shared some good times. I just decided to look him up on Facebook, and I'm so sad to see that his life was taken just months ago. A terrible tragedy. He looks so fit and vibrant in the photos, he's aged well. I can't believe I missed making contact with him by just a few months. Eric you were a good man who lived an honorable life with the police department. You will be missed.

You know the Greeks didn't write obituaries. They only asked one question after a man died: "Did he have passion?".

Even without knowing Lt. Shuhandler it is clearly evident he lived a life full of passion - for his family, for his friends, for his occupation, for his brother and sisters in blue, for his Diamondbacks and for his community.

How fortunate we all are to have been able to learn what it is to live a life of passion, whether we were one of the lucky ones who knew Eric in life or even the less fortunate ones to came to know him only by his death. Even then, once gone, still reaching out and touching those around him in such an unforgettable way.
