Lyons, George H.
George H. Lyons of Paradise Valley (born on March 6, 1947) passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. George lived a happy, radiating, and full life, and will be remembered with a smile by everyone who had the good fortune to come into contact with him. He had many, many friends, and not a single foe. He was not only an astute and well-respected trial attorney, but truly a good, genuine, gregarious gentleman of absolute honor and integrity. With his passing, a true and dear friend has been lost, along with his wonderful and ever-present sense of humor, which he believed to be the medicine of life. George would not want an obituary that would dwell on his many accomplishments. He would instead just want people to know that he has simply moved along, happily and peacefully just as he lived every day of his life, and that other than taking a moment out to howl at the moon, they should just move on with their lives too, concentrating, as he and Ronnie did, on living life to the fullest, and with lots of humor and good will. George had a way of making people appreciate life, smile about whatever they had in hand, and assess how they could bring some happiness to those around them. George not only signed off on every communication with "peace and love," he lived and truly believed those simple important concepts. His family asks that anyone touched by George just embrace and live those concepts in remembrance of him. George graduated from Notre Dame Law School with a heart of gold. George is survived by his wife, high school sweetheart, co-captain of his ship and soul mate: Ronnie; his wonderful sons and wives, Doug and Tricia, Keegan and Michelle; and his beautiful daughter, Cammie. George is also survived by his mother, brother Ray, sister Carol, and four grandchildren: Alex, Gabriel, Brianna and Alexis. A memorial celebration of George's life will be held in October with information to be circulated after plans are set. In George's memory, the family suggests donations to their preferred charity or to AZ Foundation for Legal Services & Education (azflse.org); Community Legal Services (clsaz.org) or St. Joseph the Worker (sjwjobs.org);

I left Arizona long ago and was just thinking of George and looking for an email address and found this. I don´t know if you will ever see this Ronnie but I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you were able to rebuild a happy fulfilling life without dear, good natured, always smiling and strutting around George although I have no doubt he will always be missed and have a place in your heart. He was a gentleman, a generous friend, an accomplished, devoted and ethical attorney, a teacher and a good example to hundreds of young Arizona attorneys during his time at Snell & Wilmer including myself and he (well both of you really because I am sure you did most of the work behind the scenes) had great parties. My condolences and best wishes to you Ronnie.

We just learned of George's death. What a great guy he was. I agree with the many who have emphasized his great sense of humor, his fairness, his intellect and his great skill as a lawyer. This world needs more like him. We will miss him. Our heartfelt condolences, Ronnie.

George was always too good to be true. He had a boatload of talent, was always in touch, and never misled anyone about anything. I will miss him for as long as I live and remember him for as long as I can. I called on him for favors dozens of times. He never asked one from me. That's what made George one of a kind.

Dear George,
You have been such a great friend! You & Ronnie took me to my first NBA game in Phoenix against the Spurs and I will never forget the game when we got to sit ON the floor next to the baskets - it was amazing! We have had so many fun times in AZ and most recently at the Peninsula in HK and on the junk in the harbour! so many happy memories to savour! thank you so much!

May your memories of George fill the hole that I know is in all of your hearts. He was a champion to all of us here at the Foundation and I know that I will never say "peace and love" without remembering him and all he stood for. Nor will I see a green carnation and not remember the beauty he shared with everyone he met. May peace and love comfort you.

George was a fellow sailor, skipper and great friend. Everybody likes to say kind words when someone passes, but in George's case they come easy and true, just like the course he followed in life--true in every aspect.
Boy he will be missed! God speed lovely man, you lived your dreams and did not sail past them.

To Ronnie and your entire family, What a wonderful person George was - with such a sense of humor and love of life. Howard and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinners with Ronnie and George in that little French Bistro in Scottsdale in "Ronnie's" room with her paintings. And when George sent us the write up of your sailing trip off Kauai, we laughed and laughed. He reminded me of a big warm teddy bear with arms always outstretched ready to embrace Ronnie and the world. What a sad loss to life. Please know that he touched everyone he met if even briefly and that our prayers go out to you Ronnie and to his family. Much love, Carolyn Brancato and Howard

Dear Ronnie & Family - I know how much George loved you, Ronnie. And HEY! All those beautiful memories of your trips and travels together... I will never know the depth of the void you must be experiencing; my heart aches for you. Know that you are loved and that the world was a better place because of George. What a wonderful, wonderful man! What an honor it was to have known him and to have experienced his vibrant humor and passion for life. May the love and energy I send your way wrap their arms around you in comfort. May you find peace and understanding at this really difficult time. My best to you always -
