Rock On, Forever, Mr. Diddley. Rest In Peace. See You On The Other Side Some Beautiful Day, Kind Sir!

Yeah Bo!!! Thanks for the memorable moments!!
If you love Rock and Roll, gotta love Bo! I fell in love with his rectangular Gretsch before I ever heard a note. He's the composer of 100's of stone cold classics and he will be sorely missed. RIP, Elias!
Bo you are my brother in music from the lord, I could be wrong but i bet that your playing for him at this moment play in peace!
For Bo...
WEEP NOT FOR ME
Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.
Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.
I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.
Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.
Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.
Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

Back in 1958, after listening to Bo on the radio, I got to hang out backstage with Bo, Jerome and Clifton James. It was a highlight to be with these three. Bo's music is still with me and always will be. Thanks for the memories and great contribution to music... Bob
I am a recent fan of your music. May you rest in peace
Bo's Music will Live On Always. . . .loss of a true Legend. . . .not to be replaced. . . .Rest in Peace. . . .
We had the honor of meeting Mr. Bo Diddly in 1989 in Albuquerque, NM. He was a very kind and giving man. He invited our family to one of his concerts. His music was awesome and truly one of a kind! His grandson Janson and my son Carlos Sanchez were best friends in the first grade. Please accept our sincere condolesences.
Music allows us to share in spirit, love and happiness. I will forever cherish Bo's music and the wonderful memories that I have singing along with him. He will be missed dearly by all of us. May God Bless you with peace and comfort always.
May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. And you continue to cherish the memories of Mr. Bo Diddley in your hearts and the things you shared together.
He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, will certainly wipe the tears from all faces. And the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth for Jehovah himself has spoken it.
Isaiah 25:8
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. Bo was a wonderful, kind, free-spirited man, who enjoyed family, friends. May the family continue to hold on to the memories and cherish them, these will help each of you through out each of your lives. God will bring you comfort and give you the strength that you will nees. May God continue to live in your lives. God Bless each of you that took part of caring for him in his last days, a special gift to you. God Bless....
My deceased husband truly enjoyed his friendship with Mr. Diddley, I didn't know him as well, but I do know he was a great cook. I had the pleasure of eating a roasted "pig" Luau style that he prepared at our home. I'll never forget it. I pray God give his family and friends comfort.
I send my deepest sympathie to Bo's family, best freinds as well as countless other fans.Sure, for some time I've been aware that Bo had problems(diabetes, a stroke, heart attack),nonetheless, it's still just barley sinking in that he's gone. In the past few days while having my stereo on, was this giant flood:Before You Acuse Me,I'm A Man, Bo Diddley, Hey Bo Diddley, Say Man,Pills,Whoa Mulre(Shine), Road Runner, Crackin Up, Pretty Thing, Diddy Wah Diddy, Hush Your Mouth, Cops & Robbers, Deed & Deed I do, Mona, Dearest Darling..the fellow who gave us all these tunes is now gone. Thank you Bo for those tunes.
Our Dear Bo Diddley has been a wonderful community member in addition to his historical contribution to music in America for which his fame and memory will always live. My prayers and deepest sympathy to his entire family. It was an honor to know him. We are blessed he chose our North Central Florida area to settle down in. Much love to all friends and family. We will miss and and wil always remember him with high regard.
My prayers to the family, I didn't know mr. Bo, but my father sure did and loved the man .I know he will be in that welcoming crowd at heaven's gate with my mom. You will miss his physical person but he will be there in spirit I know this. Oh by the way I do know his history and still listen to his music, Thank you the family for allowing the public be a part of your farewell to mr. Bo through your kindness he himself lives on.
God Bless-ATL
You all are in my thoughts and prayers. I loved Bo, his music, and his compassion for his fans and friends. I used to see him sitting in front of Wal Mart signing autographs while his wife shopped my store for fish. A quiet memory, but one I will always cherish. May peace and love be with all of you. ROCK ON BO!
Tan,
May the Lord be with you and the rest of the family during your time of bereavement. It's been a long time since our paths have crossed but just know that you all are in my prayers.
God Bless,
Lorraine

I had the great honor and priviledge of knowing and performing with Bo Diddley as a kid. He was always a pleasure to be around and was so funny! On stage, anything could happen and he would make up songs on the spot and we would have to follow him. And as a kid of only 15 years old, he really helped me to rise to a new level of professionalism and he always believed in me. Thank you for everything Bo! You are truly missed, my friend.
All my love, Dropjaw Bertone

Bo took rhythm and gave it a whole new meaning. I remember seeing him perform at the Seattle Pops Festival in "69" in Woodinville WA along with the likes of Albert Collins, Chuck Berry, Ike & Tina and the Ikettes etc, When Bo took the stage with his box guitar he gave rhythm new meaning. A true innovator and music legend !!!

I first saw Bo in 1964 at my college homecoming. I was instrumental in getting him and the "original group", for our dance. I had an opportunity to talk to him, it's something I will always remember.
Before him, there was none. After him, there will be none. He was "The Mighty Bo Diddley".

Bo Diddley was a pioneer in rock and roll and he had a sound unlike anyone else. It's great that kids got to know him again from the Nike commercials. Peace to his family.
Enjoy yourself with the others in Rock-n-Roll Heaven!
I remember as a child coming out to his home in Hawthorne and listening to him play. My dad worked on his daughter after a major car accident in Hawthorne. I thought an awful lot of him because as a child, I didn't even know who he was, yet he was always gracious, kind, and thankful.
Former Hawthorne Resident
Sorry to hear of this great loss to the music world. May GOD grant you comfort during this time of grief.
We have lost another great musical icon. God must have needed another great guitar player. My sincere sympathy to the family.

Father we entrust our brother Bo to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Bo in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathies.
Diddley Family,
The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life.
I hear music all around me
That’s the plucking of the strings
A Diddley Diddley Dee
That was Bo Diddley doing his thing
So much he contributed to music
With his Rocking and a Rolling
So much more he had to offer
There was no controlling
He’ll be missed very much
But never forgotten
May family and friends find comfort
From Almighty God Jehovah
And his dear son Jesus,
The only begotten
To know that soon there be a day
With no more tears or death
And no one will say
“I am sick”
For God has promised those things
Will have passed away
Then Jesus will make that call
To all those who we’ve lost
Come on out those memorial tombs
I said rise like my dear friend Lazarus
What a wonderful world it would be
To be reunited
With Bo Diddley Diddley Dee
Isaiah 33:24 ‘and no resident will say: “I am sick.”
Revelation 21:4 “and he will wipe out every tears from their eyes
And death will be no more, neither will mourning nor out cyr nor pain be anymore.
The former things have passed away.”
Music, when soft voices die
Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory—
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.
Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the belovèd's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

The talents of Mr. Diddley will be missed. May you and your family find comfort in knowing that the future is bright. Acts 24:15 says: "and I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."
Sincere regards,
The older music is the best music. Today's music has no meaning, no soul. It was people like Bo Diddley who gave us the wonderful sounds we grew up on, and the sounds that influenced so many prominent musicians and singers.
Bo can never be replaced, but he will always be remembered.
To the McDaniel family--my deepest sympathies and condolences. I know he will be missed by family, friends, and fans alike. However, knowing he is with our Lord brings joy amongst the sadness. God bless you all.
Sunrise for the birth of a great hero Bo Diddley, sunset for the homegoing of a great hero Bo Diddley. To the family of Bo Diddley, our prayers are with you during your loss.
They say it's a form of flattery and respect when others copy you or the things you do.I'd say in the world of music, you had everyone's respect and gratitude. You have earned your well deserved place, in the history of music. Maybe you weren't meant to make alot of money, just alot of great music.Enjoy your forever jam session in heaven.
Bo, I remember herein you and Jimmie Reed play at the old Slyliner Ballroom in FT. Worth,TX. You will be missed and thanks for all the great music. My condolences to your family.
Bryant Entertainment Center in Oklahoma City. Was that a great show or what!!! Never was,nor never be another.

"BOOM, t-boom, t-boom, TIKA-boom, boom"-Bo Diddley
out of the billions of human beings on this small planet, there are so few that actually make us stop thinking of our trivial problems and instead feel a sadness for the loss of a special soul upon their passing. Bo is one of those souls. The sadness is upon me.
Mr. Diddley will be greatly missed in the entertainment world. Gods blessing go out to the rest of his family.

NOT FADE AWAY MY BROTHER BO

I normally don't post bulletins - who cares what I think anyway....but today is different and I thought I would share some feelings and an anecdote about the loss of a great Rock 'n Roll Legend, Bo Diddley. I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to play with Bo in the early days of 1990. We thought it was really cool that we were going to open the show for Bo at a club in Chicago called P.J. Flaherty's in January of 90. The collective "We" were myself, Frank Capek, Jerry Frank, and Louie Medina who were called the "Better Late than Never" Blues band. Early that afternoon we found out that not only were we opening for Bo - we were his band as well! After a resounding "Holy Cow", I began to panic. Being the Capricorn that I am, I wanted to know what we would be playing so that I could at least have some sort of game plan. Well, no such luck. So I packed up my gear and went to set up at PJ's and lo and behold, Bo Diddley was sitting at a table chowing down on some chicken wings as I brought in my gear. I was pretty much in awe and set up as fast as I could and wondered if he was approachable and if I should ask him what was on the set list, etc. Well after gathering up some confidence, I approached him as he ate and said, "Mr.
Diddley, what are we gonna play tonight?" and he said, "We gonna jam!" And believe it or not, after that comment, I felt comfortable again because jammin' was a game plan!
So that night, BLTN took the stage at around 9:30 and we had a great set! The room was packed, we were tight and I was excited for what was to happen next. After our opening set, we retreated to the dressing room and just waited for Bo to arrive. After a while, we were starting to wonder where he was when someone came into the dressing room and told us that we better get out there because Bo was sitting on his amp on stage waiting for us! After another collective "Holy Cow", we climbed the stairs from the dressing room to the stage and there he was! As soon as we were plugged in and tuned, he started that famous 5 over 4 rhythm on his guitar. Jerry brought us in and we were jammin! Bo Diddley, Mona, Who Do You Love and so on. Thanks to what we had learned up until that point, we all listened and played what he expected of us that night. Everything that we had learned, from being white kids growing up on the South side of Chicago who had a propensity and desire to learn how to play the blues the way they are supposed to be played, had worked in our favor that night. So much that Bo, in the middle of the show asked the audience to "give a round of applause to one hell of a band". It was the second best compliment we had ever received in our lives. After the show, Bo came up to me and said, "You know I've got a tour to Japan coming up - it pays pretty good - can you guys do it?" I said, "No Mr. Diddley, I've got to start a real job on Monday". And that was the very best compliment we had ever received! God Bless You, Mr. Diddley.
We'll meet again, so keep a few of those chicken wings warm for me cuz when I get there, We Gonna Jam!
Just like one of my favorite songs by Bo, "I'm Sorry", I am sorry to hear of Bo Diddley's passing. May you rest in peace and I will miss your music. My condolences to Bo's family.
Bo Diddley
What a Legend in his own time! Thank you for giving yourself to us in your music! Now it's time for your just reward in the Heavens above, to give yourself & music to God! May you rest in Peace!
Bo,
I had a lot of great times with you on your travels through the ATL airport. I will miss you very much. I know that you are still wearing that black hat and playing that guitar up in heaven......
Back in the early 60's we were privileged to meet Bo and his sidekick Chester. Several of us would visit the house he had here in DC. I remember well, how he had mink covered doorknobs...can you imagine! Rest in Peace Mr. Diddley.
God's plan. We will see you soon.

I knew Bo for many years, and had the pleasure of performing with him as a special guest. On my most recent CD, "After Last Call" is a song that Bo inspired. My guitarist, Jim Hooper started the song with the Bo Diddley signiture string scratch, then "the beat" went on! One of the most treasured memories of my music career is when Bo put his seal of approval on my song, "Jump 'n' Shout". I will miss you, Bo, R.I.P.
Sincerely in The Blues,
Ms Marci

I will always cherish the opportunity I had while growing up as a kid in Los Lunas, NM. This is where and when I got to meet and know Bo Diddley. I grew to love his music and love him as a person. I'll always remember Bo telling me - "If you think Elvis invented rock n' roll, you don't know Diddley". Bo, you will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Bo Diddley;

The Lord is my Shepherd! Psalm 23
Forever my heart pounds that BO DIDDLEY BEAT, my deepest sorrow and forever a heartbeat for the McDaniels family, thank you for all those memories, Beverly.
I had the rare pleasure of being behind the drum kit at a Bo Diddley show 5 years ago. The 1st three rows deep were young kids standing with pen and paper writing the words as they came out of Bo's mouth during a 15 minute no repeat rap that made my jaw drop. I could barely play because of emotion...what a showman, what a star....he was and is...The Man. You will be deeply missed. God Speed my freind.
I never got a chance to meet Mr Diddley in person but I probably own all of his music. I Deejay and I love old blues. He will be missed. My prayers are with the family. Keep your hands in God's hands and he will see you through.

I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR OF BO DIDDLEY PASSING HE WILL BE DEEPLY MISSED BY ME .
Mr Bo Diddley you will be missed, may you rest in peace and God bless you.
A true legend........you'll be miss.
one of my rock & roll idols has just gone to r&r heaven--- the great bo diddley. in 1961 when i was a senior at princeton, i was the social chairman of cannon club [like a fraternity] and hired bo diddley to play in our red bar downstairs. his show was fantastic, complete with pile parties on the floor in puddles of beer. i started the first r&r band on the princeton campus in 1959 and kept it going for many years after graduation. in february of 1963 we played for the junior prom at princeton on the balcony of dillon gym and alternated sets with you guessed it--- none other than bo diddley. what an experience this was and especially for me. years later about 1980 i went to see bo diddley play at summerfest in milwaukee. after the show i spoke with him and reminisced about his princeton experiences. he was quick to recall the piles of bodies on the floor in a slick of beer. sorry to see him go. we're all here for a short time and then we're gone.
YOU DID WHAT'CH DID WHILE YOU COULD DO IT.
"1 OF A KIND"
GOD BLESS YOU !
Thank you, Mr. D for playing your heart out on in the rain in Topsfield MA so many years ago for the many fans, like me, who came to see you. The BEST! My heartfelt sympathy to all of your family and fans.

I heard of Bo's passing and was both saddened and thankful for his innovation, creativity, talent, thoughtfulness and elegance. My thoughts turned to Hyde Park on the South side of Chicago where, very late one saturday night, Bo invited one of his students and his band over to his home for a jam session. It was glorious and I never forgot that night.
Rest in peace, Bo Diddley, and thank you for giving so much and touching so many.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

What a great legend. I was lucky enough to meet him and Chuck Berry about 35 years ago in a hotel lobby in Oklahoma City. It was pouring rain and my friends and I waited out the rain chatting with him. He was quite gracious and signed my concert program. His music will live forever!
MAY GOD REST BO DIDDLEY SOUL. MAY THE FAMILY BE COMFORT BY THE GOD OF COMFORT.
MAY THE FAMILY BE COMFORT BY
Mr Diddley i grew up hearing my parents speak of you , it was however enjoyable watching you on those nike commercials with bo jackson and the bad to the bone video
Bo Diddly was a Gunslinger. Bo Diddly was a genius. There was no other like him, and there will be no other like him. As original of an artist as there ever was. From his patented rythmic playing stlye, his humerous lyrics and that awesome square guitar, Rock and Roll would not have been the same without the legend Bo Diddly. And in his words
"Aint I the man?" Yes Bo, you definatley are and forever will be The Man. RIP my friend.
Thank you Bo... Your music lives on in music from around the world, you really left your mark. Rest In Peace.
thanks for the great music and memories...God bless your family
I shook the hand that played that square guitar and I felt the blues runnin' through my soul. Hey! Bo Diddley....rock on my brother. See you on the other side, right next to the stage you'll be on.
Bo was one of the great memories of my youth. He will be missed.
To Bo and his family...I hope you know just how much of an impact he made on our lives. He was a wonderful man and when he's remembered it won't be because he 'didn't know diddley'!
He was an original, and his music will live forever ! Thanks, Bo, for the contributions you made & the great music. Rest in Peace.
Thank you for all the great music you created. May you rest in peace.
I got to meet and speak to Bo when he lived in Las Lunas, NM. I thought I had developed my own guitar style listening to Stones, Who, Yardbirds, only to discover it was Bo's in 1972.
I only saw Bo perform twice.
GOD BLESS THE LIFE, MEMORIES,
SOUL AND THE CHANGING STYLE OF
MUSIC WHICH HE WAS IN THE FOREFRONT. AMERICAN MUSIC HAS
NEVER BEEN SAME AND AMERICA OWE IT ALL TO BO DIDDLEY. HIS BRAND OF MUSIC WAS GOOD AND PROGRESSIVE.

He was one of the spirits of the movement for justice and equal rights.
a leader in his field, a great human being, and music that will live on forever.....god bless/cya later bo
I met Bo in the Atlanta airport around 10 yrs ago. He was headed to Dallas on the same plane as me to play at the Hard Rock Cafe. He took time to talk to all of his fans. God Speed Bo.
I'm old enough to remember hearing Bo on the radio the first time, not as an oldie. He's one of the main reasons I wanted to learn to play guitar. I first saw Bo at The Rose Palace in Pasadena, Ca. It had to be 1969-70. He may have been opening for Led Zepplin the first time they played the L.A. area. He absolutely blew the crowd away. Stages back then weren't very high off the floor and security was almost non-existent. There were a few steps on the side of the stage. At the end of his set, I was at the bottom of the stairs. As Bo walked by I asked him if he played in "open E". He looked at me and said, "You know a little about guitar, don' cha." He gave me the pick he had in his hand. He could not have been more cordial.
A friend of mine has a store in Columbus, OH. Bo was doing a show there and stopped in his store. One of his proudest possessions is the photo of him and Bo taken in his store.
The sad part of his leaving us is that there is no replacement. He is the definition of one-of-a-kind. Prayers to his family. The angels are rockin' tonight.
There was no internet when I first heard of Bo Diddley in my hometown Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was 1980, I was 14 and began listening to the Stones but I am a reader, and started to "trace" credits... there was Elias McDaniel, and his music is part of my discotheque since then and it will always be. RIP the Great Bo Diddley. His music and style will last forever, I just hope that young "rockandrollers" will check him out before trying to describe as rockers themselves.
Yet another true musical icon from the Great State of Mississippi, this one hailing from McComb. God rest your precious soul Bo Diddley.
Hi am sadden by the passing of Bo Diddley I loved his music and I will play the records I have often and think of what a great professional he was and he will missed by all. My prayers goes out to his family.

MAY GOD BLESS HIS PRECIOUS HEART AND SOUL AND HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
I got to see Bo perform in Lubbock, TX 1958. He was wonderful. I never forgot the thrill of that great rock 'n roll.
So very sad to hear this news...I have no other words, other than he'll be so missed.

There will never be another Bo Diddley. My photo says it all.
A great musician has passed away - his music will live forever
Bo has been one of my favorite entertainers since I attended dances he played in Greenwood, MS in the late 50's.
Rest in Peace.
A Musical Icon who contributed as much as he could to society so that we can listen to various melodies in variety! Thank you God for lending us "Bo" for a short time on this earth. Now "Bo" will rest eternally in God's Care! We will miss you, "Bo!"

As a youngster growing up in southeastern Oklahoma in the early 50"syour music was always inspiring and uplifting. To Your Family My Sincere Condolence
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived.
Bo, First time I saw you live of many times...Alan Freed show at the Brooklyn Fox I was transfixed by the beat, the energy, the total audio/visual assault. Awesome ax, outrageous threads , Jerome on double maracas, (Yeah, Bring it on Home, bring it to Jerome) Kids dancin' in the aisles, loud energizing Rock N Roll. If you know rock, then you know Diddley. Bo you are "A Man". Bo you are the Man !!
The Heavens are lining up some fabulous musicians for when we all arrive...
God Speed, Bo, and thanks for everything you contributed to my soundtrack. You were indeed one of a kind, and we'll miss you...
Mona will never sound the same.
Rest in Peace.
Feeling as I did when we lost Miles Davis and Ray Charles; "Bo Diddley can't die...HE'S BO DIDDLEY!".
His music will speak for him into eternity, every time someone plays his sound. From Buddy Holly to Tom Petty and everyone in between, he influenced ALL!!
Thanks for the music and the vibe, Bo. I hope you are in the company of the Duchess and Jerome Green, blazin' that "jungle beat" that made my parents nuts in the 50's!
I'm sorry you left us before I got around to sending a fan letter. Where does the time go? I was friends with one of your managers long ago (Marlene) and wished I had met you. You'll be missed!
Bo Diddley allowed our band to record in his studio in the early 60's. He had a huge impact on me personally as well as my music. See ya' there, man.
My sister Barbara Mayberry performed with Bo at Quarter Parties in Chicago long ago. He will be missed.
Truly one of the greatest. You will be deeply missed.
May God Bless You and Keep You. You are a legend. Heaven has the best band ever, and when it comes to playing the electric guitar....you do know Diddley!!! Rest In Peace.

At times like this when we don’t know what to do
Just talk to God and he will see you through
When words sometimes just won’t do and you don’t know what to say
Just talk to God and let him have his way
When friends and family come and go
Just remember that God has an open door
At times like this when words alone won’t do
May God bless and comfort you

Rolling down Hollywood Blvd. circa 1988

When I lived in Hawaii I was honored to have met Mr. Bo Diddley, he came into a little shop I managed, he wanted to buy some mo-moo's.
He gave me his credit card that looked to have been washed over and over again, but then it looked as if some one took the card and played in the dirt with it. So I told Mr. Diddley that he was not Bo Diddley, yes he had the glasses, and the hat, he just smiled, I did a double take, it was really him. I thought to myself I wish my mother was here, it was really him. He was a real sport. Even after me questioning who he was he was nice enough to give me his autograph. From my family to the Diddley family, we send love and prayers.
I know you are there with Sam Cooke, James Brown and John Lee Hooker doing your thang with that custom bottleneck guitar. May your soul rest in peace!! You will always be remembered for showing me what it takes to "Be a Man!"
Very sad news. Got to meet you at a gig you did at LA's Music Machine in the mid-80s. You were a HUGE influence on rock n roll, and will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, Elias.
